Got my heater, need to fit it. Thinking of hanging it on back door but, would prefer to have it just inside of van on the side panel.
I don't want to cut a hole in van, so those of you WITHOUT a flue, where have you put your heater? How are the exhaust gases?
Pics would be great to see, thanks for any input! ;D

hi nic ill put some pics up of my van tomorrow when fitted(if my brass fittings for reel get delivered today).ill have about a foot and half clearance at the top of the heater.working with back door open.
i also thought about putting heater on back door but decided against it.what about when its windy or raining?you dont want water going in the top of the heater!also the heater will cut out in windy conditions.
ill fit a flue in my next van but this one will be getting replaced in a few months.

Ive had heaters with flue's & without.
When i first got a lpg heater, L5, about 5 or 6 years ago i had it mounted on the side wall of the van as near to the back doors as possible, with no flue
Even though the heater worked fine, i found the whole van got really wet with condensation, even the window screen, as i had no bulkhead in that van.
I also had a couple of heaters freeze and split in the really cold weather when i had forgot to drain it or put a heater in over night.
Now i have my heater mounted on the front of my tank in the centre of the van.
Ive not had it freeze as i believe theres a big air gap from the outer van walls.
I also have a flue which goes straight up and out of the roof, now i get minimal condensation.
I know its not what you asked, but i thought i would share my 5-6 years of experience of using lpg heaters.

how do you drain the heater steve.mines an L5.do you turn the little brass thingie on the bottom of the heater?ill do it every night and put an oil filled radiator in in freezing weather.

Yes mate, theres a brass thumb screw under the heater.
You have to remove it completely for the water to drain, its a bit of a pita tbh.
If your using a rad overnight, you wont need to drain it.
Ive been caught out in the past during holiday's like xmas, when your not working then next day and forget drain/or turn rad on

I've got mine hanging on back door, better I think if it drips or leaks then the drips go on floor outside of van. If it rains I've got my ladder above on roof rack which I put a micro cloth or scrim across to stop water going into it.
As for the drain I've cut the pipe just below where it goes into the shower and put a male and female rectus joint which I just unclip and water drains out, as I find it abit fidley trying to screw the drainer screw in

How do you find the pipes react to being pulled in and out all day as it's on the back door?

Nic they are fine, I've had it about 3 years but take it off and pack it away thru summer. I prefer to have it there Nic as I havnt got to worry about fumes in the van, but each to there own preferences
All the best with it. I'd never be without the hot wash now thru our cold winters

If you decide to hang it on the back door just make your hoses that lil bit longer so they don't pull to tight. I've got some plumbing 15mm closed clips on door below shower so the hoses slide thru them when opening and closing door.
