My mate who is a TACCA member says he's been expecting some National advertising from the organisation but nothing has materialised as yet. Does anyone know when the campaign will start and to what degree?
-
contact them http://www.tacca.co.uk/contact/
-
I think Derek will quite rightly be charging a membership fee long before that happens.
Simon
-
National advertising will cost a lot of money. At the moment TACCA is a free to join organisation so to expect any national advertising to be undertaken is unrealistic. Their website obviously offers this on the web. Not sure what their plans for the future is but the trouble is when you start asking people to put their hands in their pockets a lot of them run for the hills.
-
Have to say the tacca website is working for us, had about a dozen jobs from it this year, seems to be coming up first page in many areas.
Also passed jobs to other members in liverpool and london for some of my customers 2nd homes so I would be one that would be happy to pay
-
I am not aware of having any work from the tacca website but I would still be willing to pay. its a work in progress and the more people who get on board the better it will be. cant be any worse than the ncca .
still waiting for a date for next years tacca day !
come on Derek get it sorted so we can all put it in our diaries
-
It don't pop up here on the first 6 pages of Google round here and why would it?
Why would it pop up first page anywhere?
-
John, Google will be looking at it as an industry "authority" site. It has loads of links from cleaning websites and (I would imagine) lots of returning visitors. This makes it a trustworthy site in Google's eyes.
In reality that means that pages from the site will be boosted from that authority and will show up quite well in local (especially less competitive) searches. This authority will often trump smaller niche sites such as those chasing one keyword.
-
I've never been able to get the TACCA site to rank in Wigan, although it does for other cleaners in nearby towns.
Simon
-
It shows that the TACCA site has good taste then Simon...
Like anything sensible it does not want any association with Wigan.. :P
;D ;D
-
What and cut out the centre of the know universe. ;D
-
i cant join the tacca because i am not part of the old boys club and i am a cowgirl ;D
-
What and cut out the centre of the know universe. Grin
When I was a teenager the Casino was the centre of the universe. What an incredible place!
-
Used to get buses traveling down from Edinburgh.
Are you in this Garry? :D

One thing that could be done through TACCA is commission some market research to try and find out why the vast majority of people never get their carpets cleaned on a regular basis. Is it that they don't think it is important? Have they had their carpets cleaned before and been disappointed? Never thought about it? Think it is a waste of money? I don't know the answer but armed with that information we could start to target that dormant market and potentially bring huge benefits to all. It would mean passing the hat around though and perhaps the results would only be shared with those that participate.

I got my first job from TACCA yesterday, and what a pain in the back side job it was to! I cant complain for free though :-)
-
Robert, no not that. I think that was the footage from the BBC documentary. I used to do the "Oldies"allnighters there and "Mister M's" (separate club within the Casino - more soul, less show offs). Train from Nuneaton or the bus from Redditch then midnight till eight. I think I was the only one not taking something. The drug squad couldn't believe it when they searched my bag and found a box of sandwiches! Halcyon days.
Re TACCA.
Derek has done a fantastic job but surely national advertising is a step too far?
The cost could well be astronomical whilst the immediate returns could well be tiny.
-
National advertising, why spoil a good thing?
-
Is the woolsafe scheme not trying to get people who don't clean there carpets to start by giving a free spotter bottle and the call outs in the hope that you will convert them to regular customers.
-
When I was on this organizations Face Book Membership page , I asked The President if I would be expected to contribute to The National Advertising Campaign
The President replied YES and if I was not prepared to Contribute this was no place for me.
Being an Honorable person I left
While the rest of you have been enjoying a Free Ride.
There is no such thing as a Free Lunch
I think a great job has been done so far.
I await to see how many remain when you have to pay
-
Ian it is free until a national advertising campaign is put in place, I think a minimum
of 400 members is required, so if you had joined at start, you would have had a couple of years free !! so you would of had a free ride !!
I will certainly pay, it is very easy to get the tacca website to first page which would bring your details up.
As I posted above I have had about a dozen jobs from tacca website, from an area 20 miles north of me, where an average price is for a 3 pc suite is £60, and I have gained work at £115.
Them dozen jobs at average invoice of £135 has brought me in well over a grand that I wouldn't of had, plus follow on work from future work.
Rome wasn't built in a day, and I think the "President" :D has done a fantastic job
as well as building his own business.
-
I did not want to Mislead The President
But I would not have been able to take advantage as I then became very ill and have only just started back again
But i agree I think Derek has done good
-
Whats areas does TACCA rank well for, I doubt it's in any competitive areas is it? ie bigger Citys
I'm a member not had any, so I think your just lucky where you are Andy
-
Maybe I am Craig, it is quite rural, however I have had every tom dick and migrant set up carpet cleaning in the last 6 months.
Some offering to full 2 bed house for £60 with 3pc suite thrown in for £20 ;D
Not that it bothers me as my customers tend to be the type of client who wouldnt use these types,.
-

Rome being built and President just don't hang together - at the time it would have been ''Emperor'' ;)

-
It's Clean-A-Carpets pricing and structure.
Is everyone just copying other peoples prices these days.
"Who sets your prices?"
"errm.. my competitor down the road, never met the guy, but he sets my prices"
;D
-
Marcin
What is that all about
-
About the top 8 in my area are all like that the internet has kicked the arse out of carpet cleaning for getting proper prices .

I've had a few jobs already from the TACCA website. Thanks very much. Nice to see it ranking top of first page :).
-
Nowhere in site round here on Google,
-
Just looked TACCA on page 6 on google in sheffield.
Shaun
-
Nowhere in site round here on Google,
i think we are ranking well for "carpet cleaners churwell" john, oh and morley teetering between page 1 and 2. nothing special but ranking round your area, so saying nowhere in site round here is not exactly true. :)
-
Churwell, in relation to "round here" is but a grain of sand on the beach.
-
Not had anything from tacca and can't find it on the first few pages near me.
-
Not had anything from tacca and can't find it on the first few pages near me.
on page 2 for Rhyl, Page 4 for Dyserth
-
why would you want it on your to appear in your local search results anyway? its an obstacle for the potential customer landing on YOUR site first.
-

doesn't it replace one of your competition, ?????????????????????????????????

yes with potentially several other local cleaners on the tacca site :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :'( :'( :'(

is that not better than not having a place at all ? (other than you own site obviously)

Weird on one browser comes up on page 4 and 7 , just done it on ipad and comes up 2 and 4 as Billy says. Good news then as it looks like tacca it moving up the rankings. :)

Any news of TACCA National advertising campaign as promised?
I and several other colleagues are waiting to join when we can see some tangible national benefits (apart from a website).
:)
-
so you want the current members to take a chance and pay towards any advertising campaign and then if it proves successful you might decide to join and benefit from other peoples financial risk.
if everyone thinks that way tacca will never succeed.
tacca needs committed members and the more we have the more chance we have of succeeding in whatever direction we decide to take.
-
I can't understand why you wouldn't join. It costs nothing other than ten mins to fill out the form. I joined and had one job from it last year. It may only be one job but that job cost me nothing. You can't argue at that.
-
Any association that's free to Join in our industry is a no brainier guys .
Tacca only does one day a year events, but for new guys wanting to learn tips then its worth while.

That's my brother-in-law in Australia, I'm in the UK hence the same name and logo ;)
-
So, I gather by the lack of noise coming from TACCA, this has turned out just to be a 'day out once a year for the boys club' and nothing more.
No accountability.
No national advertising campaign as promised.
No association really.
:(

Dawsons
I think you need to prove who you say you are as you don't seem to have a UK website which makes me think you are just another upstart imposter please prove me wrong.
A happy TACCA member

Regardless who I am, the questions still remain unanswered.

But as you are not a member then its nothing to do with you so why are you asking the question or are you really TACCA looking for some publicity

Hitler was more democratic than TACCA ::)roll

or the North Korean dude Never heard a member complain and I'm a grumpy moaning git but as I have never been asked for a penny been listed on their website and had a great day out meeting some fantastic people and watched a magician clean rugs not forgetting john (restormate) Jaime (cleaning systems uk) Mike (Nu-Life stonecare) woodbridge. Alex (alloy marketing) and the fabulous Paul Moss so I don't think the members (or the dictated to) can thank Derek enough so why don't you come to the next TACCA day please bring your imaginary friend have a great day and get a life.

That sounds great Derek and I wish you and everyone else who attends a meaningful super day. However, when are you going announce the introduction of a properly constituted association with a democratically elected National Committee for TACCA, or is it your intention to run it as a one man band? The other question I have, if TACCA is already an association and it hasn't a constitution or elected Committee then I may be wrong but I believe you may just be breaking the law?
-
Derek,
Maybe you could get Dawsons to do a talk about Associations and Constitutions at the open day?
-
or a marketing talk about Australian websites :)
-
I'm getting feelings of deja-vu, remember Andrew Lorry? ::)roll

The TACCA scrutineer seems to write something similar to Mr Dawson.... :o
On another note... you need to get out more Dennis ;D ;D
-
Just back from walking the dogs, does that count? ;D
-
Wow i'm not a member of TUCCA and if i wasn't selling up in 15 months time i Would apply I think Derek has put some serious hours and hard work into TACCA and how he finds the time is amazing. I dont know of any committee that has ever worked and ever will work.
Derek you know you will always get one critic :P
You do an amazing job and I believe a lot of respect 8)

I have read all those past posts in detail and agree with that person entirely, as is my prerogative, hence the said reason to find out myself if any progress has been made in this area.
The silence is deafening from that quarter, therefore, I can only deduce that no progress has, or will ever be made rendering the entire 'association' illegal, ineffective and farcical.

Any other forum and you would have been banned for that remark.
-
But it is NOT "any other forum" though is it??
You choose to come on here and post controversial crap, so you should be man enough to take the remarks...
If you are not.... I suggest you get your teddy bear, and toothbrush, and run off to the "any other forum" to which you allude....
;D

if it was addressed to any other forum member I might well have been but you can't really be classed as a member because your an untraceable non-entity.
there again I am not aware that I ever have made a comment like that to any other member nor do I think I ever would.
-
There's a dawsons painting and decorating in Redditch who advertise carpet cleaning aswell.but doesn't show any qualifications, memberships or even any pictures of work.
-
My questions still remain - unanswered.
-
you perhaps ought to ask people who give a f**** about your questions...
On any other forum perhaps??

Why do you login in, make your comment then quickly sign out?
are you worried one of the admins will get your IP address? If that's the case you must be a current member on here i.e. not an ex-member.
Just have some balls and tell us who you are. There's no crime in saying that you don't like something, its all the cloak and dagger pish that people get annoyed over.

Tony (yes I know your name), my IP changes every day as I always surf using a proxy server. If they check my IP it will come back as if I'm in the Caribbean somewhere (wish I was).
Here is a free proxy server www.anonymouse.org for anyone to use to hide their IP, although I pay for VIP extras.
I hide my IP as I have a right to privacy as under the Convention of Human Rights Act. Some on here (like yourself) hide behind made up names. Each to their own.
My questions still remain, unanswered.
I feel that a legal challenge to the said 'association' by authorities would be more than overdue, as I don't want to see anyone get conned out of monies by bogus people posing as legitimately run organisations.
I have emailed the authorities in question and they have promised to look into the matter. Mr West, I can only suggest that you register properly as an Association and start to conform to all the rules and regulations that in entails.
