Heads up:
It's that time of year again. Don't get telephone scammed into advertising in fictitious 'Police' or 'Emergency Services' type magazines.
I've had 3 calls this week.
Ask them for a contact number at the police station to verify if they are genuine - that stops them.
-
are these the ones calling from a Liverpool number?
they are persistant if nothing else.
needless to say no such magazine exists - theirs or anybody elses.
-
yes ive had a few recently, all sound like Paul Moss :D
I just laugh at em, and they have the cheek to ask what im laughing at.
just laugh more and say you.
Then they hang up
-
Apparently there's a language school Nigeria that teaches scouse accent English.
-
every year this happens, ive had for ages, always manchester/liverpool accents, always in the run up to xmas.........
some folks must get suckered in otherwise they wouldnt bother!!!!!

New businesses are what they feed on, people who need all the advertising they can get.
Been there myself
Which beggers the question why haven't trading standards mangaed to get a conviction against these damners and jail them?
-
this is my 3rd year now on these calanders and i must say ive had tons of work from them. can't wait for this years to come out, ive taken out 2 spaces this time cos that will give me twice as much work from it apparantly. ;) ;D

I get these calls and then calls asking if we want to appear in some charity calendar too!
Lucky my number goes to a call answering service they use and the company blocks there numbers :D
-
This is a pet hate of mine and sadly yes a lot of people are sucked in especially new starters but aldo some established people who should know better. Trouble is lots of them never come on pkaces like this so are non the wiser.
As I'm now on the local FSB committee I will be making this my priority to try and get this problem raised nationally and at government level.
-
I always make a point of saying to anybody that rings trying to sell me something ,that I dont deal with anyone who withholds their number as inevitably the scammers do .
-
It is amazing how they get away with this, especially after all this time. It never ceases to amaze me that there are countless genuine businesses struggling to get custom, yet the likes of the builders on Rogue Traders, and people running scam advertising promotions, seem to get plenty of business.
-
me "not interested sorry"
them "you don't know what i'm selling yet"
me "trust me, if i needed it and you were the best company to do business with i would of bought it off you by now, good day" BANG phone down. back to me carpets. ;D
