Just had the pole refitted I do find the new clamps a bit fidgety compared to the old ones but I'm sure ill get used to them the problem I have is the first section seems to still be slipping I try to tighten it but doesn't seem to work
Is there anything I need to look out for ?
-
Tighten it up more than you are used to, that should help.
-
Make sure the clamp body hasn't come unstuck - one of mine kept spinning no matter how many turns I tightened it - then it dawned on me the pole was spinning inside the clamp collar.

quick and long lasting fix , whip clamp off then pop one layer of masking tape round pole
push clamp on tight , better than any glue and will last longer and is an instant fix .

An instant fix yes, but better than any glue and last longer? - You're talking absolute rubbish.

Well I shall give you the best tip of the year, those that know me will get it and ive used this for many years repairing poles for work and being a angler for 35 years I know my carbon,

I build the section back up by LACQUERING them

I dont know why people are so reluctant to tighten the bolt, - it is, after all, an adjustment bolt. Thats what it's for, to adjust so that it clamps on any part of the pole.
That's the whole idea. I think the new clamps are great.

No he's not. I've had two clamps taped on for over a year without issue- that's why I've never glued them back on!! ;D
Mine is insulating tape though, not masking.
-
Whatever
Actually, lets tell Gardiners to do away with the glue altogether! We can all just tape them!
-
Whatever.
have you tried it traps?
-
Yes as a temporary fix and Alex even recommends it. But to say it lasts longer and is better is just stupid.
-
hey i am not stupid , perhaps i should of said last longer than most glues ::)roll
I put a tip on here to help fellow windys and get shot down for it .

Take no notice Mike; I love gaffer tape fixes - get you out of all sorts of trouble.
-
Mike, I tape mine too mate, works ok for me ;D
-
gaffer tape works better than the glue they supply and lasts longer regards alan
