had a weird one this morning, i had an email sent via the contact form on my website. this is the email:
--------------------------------
One of your employees...!!!
Hello, I am writing in an unusual case ... Some time ago, I used your services, and one of your employees face was familiar to me. At dinner with my wife, it turned out that he was a burglar, who 5 years ago broke into our home!!! This is ridiculous!!! How you can hire criminals? I found at least 3 bad entries for him at website for background check!! I am sure there are more!!! Please do something about it, things like that are ridiculous!!!
--------------------------------
as it happens i'm a sole trader and the only 2 people who work for me on a casual basis are both family and i know their backgrounds, so i new it must be mistaken identity. anyway after a bit of research it seems that it's a scam, where they get you to check and pay on some website.
i get lots of spammy/scammy emails but i've not seen this before, and if i had a lot of employees it would have got me very worried.
just a heads up in case you get sent the same.

What even worse if you said 'Yes I do employe Burglars'. As like what Timpson Keys employe ex-Prison Lads and lassies

hi gordon
well from what i can gather that exact same email that other people have been getting contained a link to a criminal record database search and you had to pay to use it. i think that's how the scam works. i've not seen it before. but they send this out to 10's of millions of people and if only 1 in 10,000 actually pays $20 to search the database, they make they make a lot of money.
"I found at least 3 bad entries for him at http://somesite.com website for background check!!"
why the link wasn't showing in my email i'm not sure.

Did you know ADT did a campaign and left leaflets saying
'While you were out you could of been burgled and then Call ADT on XXX to become safer'
