Title: motor won't start under load
Post by: rb4no on October 23, 2013, 05:13:59 pm
hi guys, i got a problem with the p washer. Been trawling through the posts and can't find anything but think I've seen the answer to this one anyway.

P washer won't start with the lance attached, or will start with the trigger pulled in. However, the engine bogs down when you let the trigger out. With the hose completely detached the p washer pushes out water no problem. The unit has been idle whilst away on holiday but clean the pre filter out prior which was quite dirty. Please help got work tomorrow.
dickie.

The unloader is not unloading, the trapped pressure is not isolated to the gun side as as such the motor is still turning against the pressure. Had similar on mine and replaced the unloader last week.

Give the unloader a tap with a hammer ...it might just be stuck. My experience is that when they start playing up it's time to replace.
Replace with a SUITABLE k series unloader. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRESSURE-WASHER-K5-UNLOADER-VALVE-CLEANWELL-WESLEY-/180431788376?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item2a02929958

It could be the 'bullet' non return valve has a bit of grit or o ring damage... Also....
Try winding your unloader back off, you may have over tightened it

just gave the unit a couple of gentle knocks with a wrench, started her up unwound and worked perfectly, then wound her up to max pressure and still works great. So problem averted for now, the unit is a small loncin chinese jobby so probably poor quality saying that though, it hasn't let me down yet and the engine 6hp by the way is awesome. cheers, dickie
