Title: for anyone who isnt to busy... this could be a great idea!
Post by: H20cleaning on October 23, 2013, 05:03:46 pm
I currently have about 4 fully booked days a week 4 x a month.

Christmas this year is on a Wednesday, so instead of having Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd December off as I usually would ,I have drafted up a Letter to go through all my customers doors offering block booking for Inside windows or their property just for 21st/22nd... as family and friends will likely to be going round. I will however tell anyone who is interested that all the window ledges must be empty and blinds lifted ready for me coming.

I could see this been quite a good idea and gives us a bit of beer money for my week of... let me know your thoughts ???

Yea thats a cool idea, could also do it with commercial - hotels, office party bookings coming up - if you were to offer carpet cleaning aswell - one stop deal for the time of year.

Why ask customers to clear the window ledge which to be honset if I am doing that the customer might aswell clean it themself.

When we clean we will remove anything from ledge and work around customer.  + We try upsell on Curtain or Blind Cleaning :D

swfc, Christmas isn't it a time to make money in any trade, um? so nobody capitlises at the greatest point of the year, I think OP is investing interests at appropriate times of making money, I sure do.  Its human nature.  Fair enough if your business is capatilising all through the year - great, but if H20 wants to make some money when all the supermarkets do, shops, retail, wish I was in a position to slow down but im not, I take advantage of all the prime time of the year.  Wish I could shut down and not think about 2014- not in a position to do that

my reason for asking the customer to remove items off window ledges is less chance of us knocking them over and breaking them! and as for the customer ''might aswell clean them themselves'' its not the moving items they don't like, its trying to get rid of the smear marks... and over applied soap spots etc.

I had my rest in July, 10days in Kavos with 10 lads ::)roll ;D came back and work slowed down because of the 6 weeks holidays and I assume a lot of people went away. Last month and this month have been my busiest of the year so I am not about to slow down anytime soon! I just thought it was a good idea for the people who arnt fully booked to have a few days of possible extra work:)

Christmas & new year are the only holidays I take off all year.
Get plenty days off in the winter because of weather.

Ahh,  When we move them we do advise 'Could you move them or Do you want us to move them'   Most customer have everything cleared out way  But we do ask for Sofa and etc to be moved away from any windows they want cleaned.    Which we are fully booked till Xmas Eve for internal cleans and loads bookings for after xmas and well into new year for carpet cleans and etc

I always tell my lads to upsell on customers from Cleaning Window and see the weeds 'Drop a notice to say 'We can clean more' then list of what services we offer which is great and lads normally circle the item and say £X to remove weeds and £X to make patio look clean again.    Which start great competition with all of them.

Internals need to be done earlier than that, usually at the end of Nov or early Dec due to Xmas decorations being put up after that.

So most of the people who are against this idea are probly busy enough if your turning the idea down? This was a post for people who want some extra money over the christmas period.
I dont really mind if i have to move abit of furniture here and there or a few christmas cards. Its well priced one off jobs, i will keep enough time in each block booking to allow for moving things.

Dont think its against it H20 but you would need to nip in be fore the 21st December even mid November.. good idea though before the decs are going up I would think from Mid November

its entirely up to you mate!if you want to offer inside cleans then just do it! ;D

me on the other hand try and avoid at all costs as i hate cleaning insides.always charge more as it will take you longer than just outsides.buy some disposable shoe covers so you dont have to take your shoes/boots off! ;D

i do relent and clean some customers inside windows by appointment only but these are big posh well paying jobs!

what about xmas tips?i used to get £500+ every year!but last few years usually £300-£350.still better than nothing! ;)

best wishes mate

It's the most wonderful time of the year......to capitalise on ideas.
Internals are good when the weather outside is frightful but you can do the job when you're in town.

Good one, when all the leaves are brown and the sky is grey.

Im going to print off a letter with the information on and staple it to a leaflet and pop it through all my customers letter box's, i can imagine it been a good little earner considering how dirty some of their inside windowd are
