What's popping off, the connector from each other or the male connector from the spindle?
-
The female end that attaches to the male end on the reel. This is the one

Yes i know they dont break the bank...but cant understand why theyve been ok for so long now they just pop off all the time, so annoying when your miles away from van, i know theyre popping under pressure but why...
What am i looking at on the gardiner site mate?
-
Could be down to cold weather i guess?

Have you got any idea if that one fits the standard metal hose reel you see. You know the ones that look like 50p coins lol ?

The ends are smaller on hozelock for some reason, theyre not the standard size you have on those reels or house taps, i have to go to a gardning place to get them.
-
So they must be 1/2 inch then. I would say it has to be the cold, if its only just started. Worn out and the cold weather. Pressure is effected my heat and cold is it not.....

I've used those reels for over 9 years, anytime I've had the popping off thing it's been down to the male on the spindle end & like you say- it's a unique size.

mate i bought one of these the plastic spindle that goes through the reel is worn out if you wind the hose in the spindle should not move but it does this will make the hose lock fitting pop of i have changed mine hose reel for a gardina one all is fine now god it was driving me mad

If one of these will fit your reel it will solve the problem:

;D I KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS ONE!!!
Change the black rubber 'O' ring on the hose lock connector on the side of the reel. Rub Vaseline on the new one before you put it on. Hey presto! You'll be sorted!

Vaseline deteriorates rubber seals. Use veggie oil or the stuff they supply with RO rings. :)

Thanks chaps, will try this
Driving me bonkers >:( ;D >:( ;D

I found the cure, thanks to my uncle whos on here, "takinatrip" swapped the reel around so they were tight and its physically not possible for them to pop, then fitted a metal bar inbetween to keep them tight :)
