There is a 800kg payload if you really need a 650 I would go bigger as in Citroen Dispatch/Peugeot Expert/Fiat Scudo and deffo a 2.0HDi with a 900kg payload. Model up to 07 plate. After 07 you can get a 1000kg payload or even more.
If you are going 2 man plus 650 you need a minimum 1000kg payload.

I got me wife helping now so the more water the better
-
As mentioned, you will defo be overweight. Even with a 650 ltr tank ,frame , water , poles , additional equipment , fuel ect .ect. Bigger van is a must unless you downsize the tank. Ed

I had a connect 900kg payload, I decided to get it weiged when fully loaded, full tank of fuel, set of ladders 650L water and 2 of us in the van, the van weighed 1150kg, i also didnt have the spare wheel in the van so that is another few kgs. I now have a transit with a 1500kg payload ;D
It's amazing how everything adds up, I would now say 1200kg payload is a minimum for a 2 man setup with 650L

I'm guessing that on the days that I fill up the two 500 litre tanks (this actually equates to about 950 litres due to the overflow pipes positioning) in my transit t300, I am in actual fact, overloaded. Poo poo!

im looking at Vauxhall Vivaro now, they look great.

There is a high chance that it is.

im thinking of a dispatch/scudo/expert now as i reckon anything smaller and ill be struggling for room for poles, trad stuff etc and a 500L tank with frame.i dont want to be pushed for space.i work on my own but would a 900 kg payload be ok with a full 500L tank plus all my other gear and ladders plus me(im 16 stone!).im not so sure. ???
im not bothered whether its a 2.0 HDI or the 1.6 as ill only be doing around 3000 miles a year.whats the difference in payloads or are they both the same?
to the OP im sure you would be well overweight with a full 500L tank in a combo even if you work on your own mate.a 650L in a berlingo would be madness as well IMO! ;D

Get a Transit .
I'd like a medium wheel base and medium roof Transit van and a size up .
To get a 1000 litres tank be good .
But a 650 litre is in my transit swb,260
-
just fitted a 1200 lt tank in my transit ;D ;D was a mare to fit but northing a still saw and a welder didn't sort ;D

Replacing one of our vans with a new vivaro.
Crazy payloads and twin 400L tanks is a sweet setup.

I remember Ages ago you were quite sure it wouldn't be over !
I thought with 2 people it would but you alone with a bit of fuel and maybe 625l should be fine on a connect

Why are 5 speeds no good for you,
What sort of milage do you hit each week then coz
At 30-40mpg that most vans get fully loaded i wouldnt have thought it would matter too much weather a 5 or 6 speed???not that i know how good a 6 speed van is but hey ho!
My car is a 6 speed and only gets me 15-20mpg if im lucky but i do put My foot down,
In my van which is 5 speed i get 30-40 mpg on longish motorway journys when fully loaded. I cant see many vans doing that much better than 30-40 mpg when full with 1000 litres of water??
Maybe im wrong as usual as havnt drove a 6 speed van but hey ho.

6 speed van! You will feel the difference! Trust me! It just gives you that extra Boast when you need it and great in Snow having the 6th Gear!

Thought I was getting bad mpg from my car at middle teens but this from a van is crazy!

Got a new 63 plate Vivaro Sportive SWB , don't get me wrong I loved my wee Transit Connect but whoo hoo this things the dogs baws. Now have a factory fitted 650 l tank installed as opposed to my 350 in the Connect , no problem for the Vivaro #happybunny
