Title: Schools........who does them?
Post by: easy clean on October 17, 2013, 11:57:53 pm
Been asked to quote for some schools, one today wanted it once a year in and out. They was looking for a quote to see if they can save some money.

My question is if you had a few schools that needed to be done say once or twice a year obviously at the same time then how di you manage to do them? If staff do them then what di they di with the other work they're meant to do if that makes sense?

I can't see this being that profitable as they prob continue to look for cheaper quotes

Thanks in advance

Yes we do a few - basically we try to arrange for a Saturday then it's tagged onto the end of the week depends on the caretaker.

Failing that it's usually booked well in advance ( 2 months or more ) and I schedule domestic rounds to suit a school clean would go ahead on that day unless it was extremely bad weather

Be warned they are very hard work, find out when the last clean was usually it's more than a year ago and who ever done it last most likely did a pretty poor job!

If it's got lots of a acrital (metal) frames prepare to clean them twice when WFP ing

Nice add on if you get the right price, but don't fret if you miss out and don't quote too low because you'll hate it!

Hi
I do a few schools a year , I find them really profitable. The only issue I have is the teachers stick a lot of things to the windows with Sellotape or blue tack . So I have a non window cleaner labourer in working ahead getting blue tack off and the worst of the Sellotape. Can't get it all off but the staff know that.

I also arrange a few months in advance and pull it in, I have a couple of subbies I use
When the regular lads have to much on. We all pile on it for a day usually breaks the back of it

Forget saturdays ;D

John that's a lot of time your other guy is wasting he could be cleaning. As part of my quote I always say that all obstacles on windows must be moved prior to cleaning glass. Never had a problem, email them the day before and they send out a memo to the teachers and they do all the work

Hi,

I did a school in Summer just past.

It was simple enough but I costed it for two cleans and so they put me into 2 clean from Summer and then this coming end this term. however i Send them a email telling them about removing items from windows and moving items away from windows where possible and that I would charge extra if I need to remove items from windows or not clean the pane.

But cost one clean higher and if they booked two cleans at cheaper so it makes it cheaper to book you twice plus REMEMBER once your on their books its easier to get more jobs as I have since been able to clean carperts once a year for them too.

They have them done in term times were busy every day but seem to squeez them in somehow. It's about 9 we did which some are 3 times a year a couple are twice a year and a couple once a year but they all want them done end of August beginning of September. Hard work but I think they pay pretty well.

Usually we have to do them before or after school hours so doesn't make much difference to our schedule, just means earlier start or late finish.

For internals on schools i do them when kids are off school pre arranged between me and the caretaker as for outsides i do them after school has finished .

But they are not really big schools so i am able to do them under 2 hrs . Mike
