For over a year now ive been using a mytee lint hog with my truckmount I went to a job today a realised ive lost the lid for the lint hog so I carried on without it the thing is after every job do you have to clean the filter in the waste tank as mine is a nightmare to get to cheers .

Which filter? Usually there is a micro filter that protects the blower and optionally a basket filter to catch the lint as it enters the recovery tank.
If it's the micro or blower filter, you only need to clean that periodically.

Simon the basket filter iam talking about just got a call back from the job I done on Monday customer said she found the lid on her driveway but didn't realise it was mine.

So your using an in line filter? The one in the tank you were asking about, is it positioned at the blower end of the tank, if so it only needs periodic cleaning.

i ran my truckmount for 6 months without the basket filter. never again. tank had 6 inches of gunge at the bottom and i had to climb in with one of the kids plastic sand rakes to slowly scrape it all out. filter is back in for good now and i clean it at the end of every day like i should do.
lesson learned.

The problem with using an exterior filter for the lint especially in the summer, is that the main tank doesn't get rinsed that often, when the bacteria builds up especially after a job with let's say pet problems/incontinence problems/messy tenants, the stench yes stench rather than smell can be unbelievable and not a very good advert for your cleaning business, so as previously said it's a good idea to rinse your waste tank on a daily basis, and while you're about it you can empty the internal lint basket.
