Title: just starting out
Post by: Cleaner Windows on October 16, 2013, 02:48:38 pm
Hi ppl, I posted up a while ago about carpet cleaning courses and a kind cleanitup forum member pm'd me with details about prochem 1 day courses in chessington, Ive now completed my 1 day course and looking forward the new add on to my window cleaning business. I didnt sleep too well before the prochem course and was yawning most of the way through the day and found it hard to concentrate but I got the general idea of most of the does and donts and they gave me a folder full of info to recap with and use for referance later which is handy!

Have you got any tips to share with me which might help with getting to grips with it all? anything I should avoid doing or whatever?
any advice would be appreciated.

(Ill be using the Numatic twin motor ctd570/2 carpet cleaner and prochem chemicals)

With that machine, be careful not to over-wet the carpet. It is not a powerful machine and will leave a lot of liquid in the carpet,so the carpets will not dry out in a few hours.
Do plenty (and I do mean plenty) of dry strokes with the wand.

You need to have a serious re-think about your choice of machine.
You need a twin vac with 100, preferably 135 -150 psi similar to to this if you are to be taken seriously.

Thanks hector Ill follow your advice, I know it's better for car valet use than a carpet cleaner as such ado I will use it and make do till I can upgrade, sort of wish I'd have waited till I could afford something better but hey ho (off to work I go?) :) cheers

If you haven't already bought that machine I would save the money and put it towards a proper professional quality machine. The risk you run by selling carpet cleaning to your window cleaning customers is if you make a hash of their carpets you will Lose the customer for both services. You should also be aware that you can do an incredible amount of damage in the blink of an eye so if nothing else get an all risks insurance policy.
