Title: Zero rinsing
Post by: James chapman on October 16, 2013, 11:25:47 am
Guys just cleaned my block of flats for the first time. 4 storeys. He didn't rinse one window. Just a quick going over. Now I only cleaned my windows a couple of weeks ago so they were pretty clean anyways. There's bits left all over them.

Does anyone else use a no rinse method???

Depends on glass and flow I am working with. Generally I do rinse  but just lately been running with such a high flow I am not rinsing.

No.  Although you could sometimes get away with it on frequent cleans and high flow rate, IMO it's a risk.

Yes rinse every time, the amount of bits I see rinsing off that before I would not have seen makes it worthwhile

I found if you don't turn the water on at all,you can save even more! Just flick a dry brush over the glass, im sure it'll be fine!  ;)
As said previously I find rinsing is the key the wfp. The less I rinse the more spotting I seem to get, even on jobs cleaned weekly.

If you're working with a high flow, rinsing just takes a few seconds anyway, but I might experiment with not rinsing purely because I'm lazy.  Or rather, I'll ask Wor Lass, the next time she cleans our windows (she does them every fortnight at least), not to bother rinsing, and we'll check the results then.

rinsing washes the dirty water and bits of crap off the window.. i don't see how not rinsing would work to be honest! you talking scrub the window then leave it as that?

No wonder people say they do 3 bed semi in 10 mins  ::)roll

Results ok at a glance but close inspection shows up spots especially along the tops of the glass

The only reason he did not rinse is probably because his price was that low he would not have made a decent wage if he wasted time rinsing .

I see at the care home my wife works at i have been told they charge £150 and price should be close to £400 if not more . Mike

That's why wfp has a bad reputation, Because operatives don't spend enough time cleaning the windows properly.

I started out in this game working for a fella that never rinsed a single window, ever.

He had loads of block managed jobs and honestly didn't give 2 hoots about the end results as long as he got a signature for each block. Sounds a bit like the fella that cleaned your flats!

I've started doing one agitation of the glass in the normal fashion.
Then the second one side to side going down the glass.
So rinsing with brush on/cleaning if you like.
It seems to be ok.

I always rinse just to be safe. I have seen some verey crap jobs done with wfp where no rinsing was done, it takes 2/3 seconds to rinse a paine of glass so not exactly time consuming.

TRAD  =  wet up with applicator, then squeegee.

WFP   =  scrub with brush, then rinse.     surely

Not rinsing off properly, is all good fun until you get found out!

never rinsing is stupid...but have no problems on maintainence
cleans with nothing visible on glass...a high flow you are virtually
rinsing as you scrub
