Title: Gardiners carbon fibre gooseneck
Post by: Ian101 on October 15, 2013, 05:52:32 pm
When I bought a couple of new poles from Gardiners I got free carbon fibre swannecks which I never bothered to use as quite happy with my plastic resinecks but having broke a few and run out of them I had to use the free carbon fibre gooseneck today ................... WOW what a difference ... not sure the weight difference but feels a whole lot lighter.(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1381856007_Flintshire-20131015-00632.jpg)(http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/1381856026_Flintshire-20131015-00631.jpg)

Hi Susan

Which tap have you got and where is it leaking water from?

Which pole hose are you using?

I have the carbon gooseneck and like it when I have high level deep windows to get to. But I like the plastic ones as you can then angle the brush as you like and be closer to the glass, if you know what I mean ???

You would do better using barbs that Gardiner sells. 8mm stem into the tap then barb for your pole.

Those taps don't leak if the hose is pushed in properly  ???

Why have a tap on the brush head?  Can't see the point in that.

So you can turn the water on then off.

U can't turn the water off when the pole is 20 feet up.

Tried one on a few houses but much prefer the standard resi-neck as i find it generally easier and more adaptable. If I did use a gooseneck I think I would prefer the 55 degree, although would think the 45 degree would work well with the sill brush.

I find the brush feels really unstable when I use a gooseneck. And it's awkward for ground floor windows. Much prefer the plastic swivel

comprimise between nowt and an aquadapter ... saves some water for no extra weight

Try having it at the bottom of the pole.

kink the pole hose.

kink the pole hose.

I'm beginning to think this is the way forward. Got sent a replacement aquadapter for the one that broke. It's obviously a recon one and it's frustrating the amount of times it doesn't click round or gets stuck between rotations. You just have to keep connecting and disconnecting your pole hose that's the only disadvantage. The aquadapter does add a noticeable weight on the end as well.

These pole valves can easily cope with 100psi without any issue so it will be down to the hose and its connection with it.

If you are using the standard yellow pole hose then you will need John Guest barb to stem adapters (http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/John-Guest-8mm-stem-to-6mm-Barb-PM250806E.html). If we had fitted this valve to the pole hose from new then these will have been fitted as standard.

If you are using our Orange PU hot water hose then these are not needed and any connection issues can be sorted by cutting the end off the hose to get a fresh end and then firmly inserting into the valve couplings.

slightttlllyyyyy disagree with you on this one Alex
when the pole vale is shut and running on hot the hose keeps shooting off/ out of the valve
Easily solved i used a barb
I am using your orange pu hose

I like my aq.d as I just cant  get away with having a long tail I am use to a short tail that's only 2 inc longer then the pole the ex47 is  great very light and very strong just not getting on with the leeking tap and the endless tail ,

you have to keep hold of the lot to turn the tap on and off ! tried cutting the tube and refitting it still leeks all over just want you need out of brand new stuff  ::)roll

Which hose are you using on the pole? Also what temperature water are you using?

If you are using the standard yellow pole hose then you will need John Guest Stem-to-Barb adapters (http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/John-Guest-8mm-stem-to-6mm-Barb-PM250806E.html). If we had fitted this valve to the pole hose from new then these will have been fitted as standard.

Fitting the John Guest stem to barb adapters will usually fix this issue.

Well there will always have to be one  :)

Most users will not suffer this issue with the PU hose, but, as you say, if you do the Stem-to-Barb adapters seem to cure most of mankind's ills!

i love the goosenecks.i prefer the 45 degree as i can clean sills much better than the 55 degree.great for deep ledge windows, velux windows and higher work.very very light!perfect with an extreme brush and (sorry alex!)aqua daptor! ;D

i do use the resi necks as well on run of the mill standard houses with tight space conservatories sometimes.

I have the aqua adaptor on all my poles , saves water and speed etc .
I've only had one break, spring fault in ,10 months and aqua adaptor soon replaced and fixed it for me as I couldn't due to my broken hand at the time . Great customer service .
A new V-LITE aqua adaptor is coming out , 120 grams lighter and stronger .
I gave them ATM on my 25/30slx's and will get a VLITE AD for my 18ft pole when it comes out as the weight is not a issue .
