Title: VW Caddy Tank size.

Hi everyone does anyone know if I can safely fit a 500Litre tank in a VW Caddy the payload is around 650/670KG

Yes if you leave the tank empty  ;D ;D

500l water = 500kgs + weight of tank + weight of you + weight of fuel will come to more than 650 kgs and you havnt taken into account any cleaning materials, ladders, passengers etc

admittedly no i have it in the garage and pump from the ibc into the tank van
the vw caddy i have as a high payload more than the peugeot partner i had

i would say a 400 would be ok, i have a 400 in a doblo with similar payload, just whack some barrels in if you need.

what i will say though, is i had a caddy hire van when mine was off the road getting fixed and i put a tank in the back , it was great the caddy handels the weight better than any other small van i have driven and drives like a car, if you board out the back an upright fits between the bulkhead and the wheel arches , leaving the space infront of it for your real etc, i fit poles in across ways, but if it were my van i would cut a hole in the top left hand corner of the bulkhead just about big enough for a couple of slx's

thats how i have mine and would agree they are great vans for handling the weight

I think the payload already allows for a full tank of fuel and a driver who weighs 75kg. The payload is purely the amount you can stuff in the back. My little connect is only a 625 payload and I have a 350 litre tank and other stuff that doesn't weigh too much. Me and my mate stood on the back bumper (probably adding another 160kgs and it made hardly any difference to the suspension. I may look at getting a 500 tank but not filling it up all the way. Pop down to a weigh bridge should give me some answers.
