Title: spectrum di vessel
Post by: robert mitchell on October 14, 2013, 03:36:34 pm
I was just wondering if anybody has any experience of the spectrum di vessels that are supposed to increase resin life and be easier to fill?

If so what do you think of them ?

Normal DI vessels are easy to fill, if you know how.  There's a couple of little tricks like making a scoop out of an old pop bottle and then partially filling the DI vessel with water when it's nearly full, so you can get the lid back on easily.

I can't comment on the increase of resin life though, with regards the spectrum.

Robert I had one which came with the system from Omnipole. I didn't have to use any resin as I had a carbon filter, sediment filter and the spectrum at the end. Changed all filters about every 18 months and lasted me around 8 years until I started getting high Tds readings after having new filters and membranes after 6 weeks. The Di spectrum was quite expensive from Omnipole, they replaced the spectrum for me but went high reading again after a few weeks when I phoned and told them they didn't want to know so I bought a new ro system for £200 I think I paid nearly £300 for filters and membranes from Omnipole. I find with the new system using lose resin in a Di bottle I bought lasts alot longer as after 4 months or more my Tds is still on 000.

I buy my DI vessesl from Daqua i also bought a funnel which makes it a lot easier to fill , As some lads have said on here before give your DI vessel a good shake every so often as the water can cut a channel through the resin .

A good shake may well have the same effect i personally would not spend the extra money just double Di . Mike

Easier to fill? You actually have to buy a special funnel to fill them!!

Anyhow, the spectrums have a unique distribution system to stop the water "channeling". You can achieve the same by shaking a normal vessel up & down for a minute or so to mix the resin back up inside. ;)

I was going to buy a couple but after research found it not worth the extra cost over a normal vessel.
