Title: Gutter cleaning charges
Post by: Rhino dave on October 13, 2013, 08:38:56 am
Did a large gutter clean yesterday (approx 400 metres) most of it about 35ft high, it took 2 of us 9 hours, I'm not sure what to charge, I was thinking in the region of £500, just looking for a fair price for myself and customer, what would you guys charge  ???

How do you all clean your gutters.

Rhones - By hand and with Special wee hook and rod thing from eBay.
Downpipes - flexi hose.

Thanks for all your answers, I didn't give a price because I wasn't asked, they were having major problems with damp on one side of the building caused by the blocked gutter and downpipe, so they just asked me to do it last time i did the windows.
This was a care home as well about 90 bedrooms , I think I'll go in at £1.50 a metre , that seems pretty fair looking at what others charge.
By the way my arms are feeling at the moment I would say its a bargain,
                                  Cheers  Dave.

It's always best to agree a price before you carry out the work imo.

What happens if you put your invoice in for £600 tomorrow and they say they were only expecting to pay £200? A possibly embarrassing/costly situation that could have been avoided with better communication.

I hope you get your invoice paid without problems though, even though your a Rhinos fan!  :)

Anytime someone just do that it usually means there expecting the work done cheap or for free.

For that amount of gutter clearing or similar size of job an agreement on price even an estimate would be best

Thanks for your input, the manager thought  £600 was a fair price for what we had done so every one is happy, but if something like this happens again I will always agree a price before I do the job, cheers Dave.
