Title: Too Busy.
Post by: Neil Gornall on October 10, 2013, 06:01:16 pm
Not sure whats going on but we have work coming in from all directions. Almost all of it is large commercial stuff.
I wouldn't mind but I am finding it harder and harder to fit in any coffee mornings or big breakfasts.  ;D

Its good that things are buoyant in the industry and I hope everyone is enjoying the same kind of boost. (unless your near me)   ;D

I've never been so busy!

Decided to take on gutter cleaning, fascia & soffit cleaning work again (I stopped doing it for a bit) and I'm finding it hard to schedule everything in around the regular window cleaning work!

Oh actually you've caught me out - I'm not busy at all... I have nothing to do tomorrow, or all of next week.

Yep always looking for more work, The title was not serious any more than my reference to coffee mornings was. ( I meant it about the breakfast though )  ;D

My philosophy has been the same since I started, keep expanding until I cant cope, then either get another employee or a another van to cover it and start again.
Just taken on employee number 5 and very happy with how things are just now.
(shouldn't have said that as that's usually when things go wrong)  ???

I would say I am currently very happy with amount work I have.   I am always happy to take more on but I rather be busy than Dead.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say works has dropped off quite heavily this last 2 weeks, just like it did in October last year.

Not to worry though, it's been a very busy spring / summer and I have enough regular maintenance cleans to cover my bills and then some.

I work eight days a week now.

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work 29 hours a day down mill, pay mill owner for pemission to come to work, and when we got home, our dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah.

A bit light on work here but not too bad.  Could do with getting maybe 50-80 new customers so that I can drop my 20 worst.

Thank you Johnny,
We currently have three van out full time, A Vivaro, a Transit and a Berlingo.

I intend changing the Transit next year for maybe another Vivaro as the Fords are rust buckets and noisy. I also intend changing the Belingo to something larger as its too small for what we need although good for going out quoting and such.

busy enough!i have room for maybe 3 or 4 full days work a month but id rather take them off and help my girlfriend with her shop! ;D

all my work is maintenance cleans with add on jobs for existing customers as and when.my earnings dont change that much whether its summer or winter as i normally finish at 4pm anyway(sometimes earlier!).the only time they take a dip is during severe winter weather(heavy snow)although i usually find a way to do a few hours work here and there! ;D ;D

ive picked up 3 new jobs this week through word of mouth and usually have a few enquires most weeks without even trying.

im still on course for earning £13,000 more a year than i was 4 years ago so good steady growth over the last few years.im happy! ;D

paul how come you seem a bit light on work?i know you have been window cleaning a long time like me(over 20 years)have you lost a few commercial lately? :(

best wishes to you all
