Title: Trouble with Ford Connect van...
Post by: Paul Clapham on October 09, 2013, 03:34:35 pm
Hi ,

Any body got a Ford Connect Van , and had this problem , Glow plug light starts flashing , after a mile or so the van slows down starts to lose power and then stops, I then restart the engine and its fine. This has happened twice in the last couple of weeks , both times at around 65MPH

Just been to my local garage they hooked it up to the computer and said no problems ! But they advised me to take it to a main Ford dealer.

cheers

Paul.

you need to read the code when it happens, if its an intermittent fault you wont get it when it goes away

google it before you take it to a main dealer it may be a simple fix, i help out at a garage frequently, im there on friday afternoon with a real expert and can ask him if you still have the problem then

I had the the same problem with my Renault Trafic, it was the turbo pipe which had split. It was also chucking out black smoke, is yours doing that also?

The only problem i've ever had with my connect has been fuses mucking about. There are two fuse boxes, one behind the glove box and one under the bonnet (that seems to be the problem one). I had lights coming on like a pin ball machine. Took all the fuses out (not the radio one) and put them all back again. Every fuse was fine but it seemed to solve the problem. Happens about once a year.
Not sure it even relates to your problem, but maybe worth checking!

Any faults in the system are stored in the ecu memory until cleared manually.

Some garages don't have the full program to check all the faults. Best with a Ford garage - sorry.
