I have a 650 ltr tank in the van but because of the size of properties that I clean,I am running out every day.
I am also on a water meter so its costing me a fortune.
Are there any systems that anyone can recommend that I can fit myself to get on demand water to top up my tank.
My customers are happy for me to use their taps while I clean their windows and I spend an average of an hour at most properties.

get a 4040 ro fitted in to your van with 2 pre filters, anything else would be too slow, or just use a resin vessel at a custys tap to top up your tank,
you need to work out which would be the best way of doing it,
could you fit a larger tank into your van?

Scrimble, does a 4040 membrane produce water faster or just uses less waste?

Cant fit a larger tank because of the weight
Where the best place to get a 4040 ? Cant just use a DI as TDs very high around here.
Any links for the prefilters ?

I know people who get up start around 8.30 break the back of the work for the day, home for 12.30 quick fill up and a sarny and your off again! I only use a 400L

4040 ro produces water faster, any of the main window cleaning suppliers sell them, purefreedom etc
amount of waste depends on pressure, if your topping up at a outside tap then your not gonna be able to use a booster pump

When you say water meter costing you a fortune how much buddy ? Surely can't be more then £50 a month I heard that you can lower it by calling them to inspect your system

To y what you worried about the cost you say the size of the properties you clean you must be making big bux so why worry about cost of water or anything else pmsl 😜

Do you have an Aqua-Dapter fitted? Great gadget for making your water go further.
If you're in a soft water area, a simple DI might be an option. Ro is cheaper in the long run, but DI is quick & you don't have waste water spilling out all over your custies driveways,..

use an aqua-daptor.you ll save water and itll make your working day easier.
trad some doors and ground floor windows in tight spaces.
i work with a high flow and use on average 300-400L a day.
today i had a few commercial mid size offices first thing then run of the mill compact estate work.worked 9pm -4pm and used 300L.£250 richer! ;D

How long do you spend cleaning an average size window? Big houses do take longer to clean so little box houses would take 5-15 mins on average. Just wonder if you spend too long and too much water cleaning windows being over excessive and too thorough on your cleans? I work alone and have some really large properties with lots of glass to clean but don't get through that much even if I work a long day

Alot of my customers offered water from their outside tap to begin with. But most have no idea of the filtration process of ro.
They think that it will be a couple of litres and most will be appauled at the waste water going down the drain, especially if they were on a meter as well. I would see myself paying for the water to clean all the neighbours. So when I found out the implication of my offer for water, I would cancel your services.
In the winter time I have found that most people switch their outside tap off, so that won't help you either.
To run an r/o efficiently, it needs long running times. Stop start isn't good.
I have 650 litres on board and the only time I use all of that is when I have the flow rate up too high - yes rinsing is quicker, that I find that I waste more in the scrubbing phase of the clean with a high water flow.
The suggestions to turn the water flow down are valid in my experience. I also use an Aquadapter.
If you are hell bent on filling up along the way, I would consider a double tank system ie 2 x 350 litres. Fill both tanks with pure to start the day, empty the first and then switch over to the second. Use a outside water source/sources to fill the first tank with tap water. Move off to another house and use a shurflo 12 v pump to filter that water through a 4040 r/o. You can position your van over a drain grill in the road so the waste water doesn't create too much attention. You will be processing that water into the second tank you are using. Hopefully you should get around 175litres of pure out of the 350 litres of tap water.
