Yep they have.

Not paid a penny charges in 4 years with the Abbey.

I left Lloyds for the same reason + they kept nagging me to do this & that which ment even more money for them.

They pay you interest on any money you have in there if you are cash positive.

been with abbey for 4 years.  never been charged

can be a pain if the machine is broken to pay cash in

they wont except cash over the counter for business customers so you have to hunt for a machine that works
otherwise not had a problem

You're right, they do.

And I've still been paying Lloyds hundreds every month just because I've been with them since I was 16.

Think I'll have a look around tomorrow and change.

... I've still been paying Lloyds hundreds every month ...

Gary, if you pay hundreds every month you must earn millions, so why would you bother ;D

I do not earn millions so have to bank wiht Abbey  ;D

Kind regards,
Arthur

I use abbey, but as Colin says cash and cheques you have to either post or pay in through the machine.

A few months back i was paying in, one machine out of order the other had someone working on it, so into the bank 4 cashiers and me.

No way would they accept it over the counter, but they did offer to post it for me  ???

Abbey very good only problems I have encountered, ordering on line for paying books/business envelops, dose not work so a phone call is needed.

Also they are not in my face as the standard high street banks.

Hi Guys,

Abbey for me too .

I had to go to the Financial Ombudsman to get Nat West to stop ripping me off.

I save £500 plus a year and no hassle , plus because i pay in to a machine I can do it anytime like Sunday morning when there nobody about.

Cheers

Doug

Why would you want to pay in money at the counter and que up for ages, I often go down to the town centre Bank at 9.00/10.00pm when there is no-one there and pay in through the machine. Its so easy, its only the very odd occasion when a machine isn't working.

Gary, if you are paying £100's every month in Bank charges you must be mad!
Dont understand how anyone would pay Bank Charges.

As Ian say's, they pay me.

Barclays for me!

While they charge for cheques, I get free statements, free automated items (direct debits etc) and free Internet banking with free BACS payments. I have hardly written a cheque in the last 3 years!

Coupled with an internet savings account, also with Barclays, I can get interest on any excess funds at the click of a mouse.

Plus, with a proper business manager, I can get overdrafts, loans, leases, etc with just a phone call.

I can charge regular customers by direct debit, and take credit cards.

Ive been with lloyds for years, and am now going through the change with fsb co op free banking.

Hope its not going to be too much hassle ::)

I think its all too easy to stay the same to avoid the hassle factor, but a little hassle and you can save ££££

will post results
