Tried to order some things from gardeners today only to be told I have to do it on-line although the girl on the phone was very polite and helpful I'd still rather phone up and order. Needless to say I never did place my order :'(

On line ordering is to for everyone.....
Some people would prefer the option of talking the order through/seeking advice
Just my opinion

Hi David, I'm sorry you had this experience.
We do try to encourage all our customers to place their orders online. We do this because it's quicker, more secure in terms of your financial information and guarantees that product details don't get lost in translation.
But it is usually our policy when a customer expresses a need to order over the phone to do this for them. It is never our intention to make anyone feel that they are being forced to order over the internet - we try to strike a balance that keeps everyone happy - I'm sorry that we failed in your case.
Another time I suggest you just tell whoever on the team you're talking to that you have to place the order over the phone and make it clear that an internet order isn't a viable option for you.
Thank you for your feedback, please be assured we carefully review customer service comments from all our customers.

Just an additional note for some of our more established customers.
If we have customers who have been in the habit of emailing us a completed online shopping cart, but then requesting that we re- enter all this data and use stored payment information to process the order or call them to get this payment information then we do request in their case that they must complete these orders online. We are no longer able to store any financial details and these customers have been requested to complete all such orders online in the future. This also applies to those who used to email us stock lists etc, manually entering such information into a shopping cart and securely entering your own payment details is in these cases the safest and quickest method. It removes any margin of error and represents the most efficient use of time.
However this situation does not set in place a policy that would effect other customers who aren't able to access or effectively use the internet.
I hope that helps explain our recent stand to some of our more experienced site users.

I'm glad to see that phone ordering is still OK. Sometimes I need to ask a question about something before deciding if it's the right product for me. Also, my living circumstances mean that I tend to order a number of things in one go and pay extra for a pre 10 AM delivery. It saves potentially waiting in all day as I live on my own. I don't think that delivery option is on the website (not when I last looked anyway). Apart from that, I imagine that there are some window cleaners who neither have nor want the internet. It's not for everyone.

I don't have any internet or a computer, even. I can't even type. I'm sending this message through will power, whilst standing in a field in Ceredigion.

A couple of weeks ago i needed a new brush within 2 days as a new job was booked in and for this reason they promptly took the order over the phone, no problemo. :)

I called them again today and they explained their reasons for preferring web orders but they were more than happy to take my order over the phone and dispatch it today for delivery tomorrow so once again great service from them
Thanks gardeners
