i usually wear work trousers boots and t shirt with logo on or a plain coat.
do you think dressing smart makes a difference?
would trainers be ok? , hard work walking from door to door in boots or shoes
-
i normally go for the smart option to be honest.........1st impressions and all that but i guess its not always convenient ie. after work and all that popping in for bit of canvassing before heading for home
-
Personally I wouldn't think wearing decent, clean trainers an issue at all assuming your in work wear such as your trousers and top with your logo. As long as the overall appearence is clean, smart and professional. However I would not want to canvass in anything less smart than that as would you buy from someone in tracksuit bottoms? The same as I would think wearing a suit a little over the top. (Just my opinion)
I too walk about in work boots, trousers and top when leafletting or canvassing and have recently changed to wearing clean trainers and it has not made any difference. The fact that your in a uniform top and decent trousers means that your already smarter than alot of the competition (in most places).

From my experiences I don't think it matters (to a certain extent) what you wear as long as it's clean and ironed
Just be presentable, smile and look them in the eye (don't try to stare them out) while you're talking.
Most people will make a decision about you before you've said three words so try and appear friendly

you need to look as tho you do real hard graft , trainers scuffed or split at the toe are good , featherlight trackies and top that doesnt match (mohair?)
clean face hands and nails and roar with laughter if you can

This would be a good way to get yourself sectioned!
