Thats hard for a customer to prove,
I scratched glass before, as i used the plastic edge of brush to remove bird doings.
But she let me off.
Dont think brittles will scratch though, as you would notice on more than one window.
Some say if grit is in the bristles then that can scratch, never happened to me, but maybe true?

Steven.

yeh I scratched someones brand new patio doors when I first start... denied it of course ever since I have only used bristles, if theres a stubborn mark just soak it leave it come back a few mins later or use abit of soap

yeh but rough plastic is still just plastic- i may be wrong but i'm pretty sure it still wont scratch glass, or i'd of scratched loads & i haven't, unless you had bits of stone embedded in the plastic somehow. the scrapers gardiners sell are plastic & they're intended for scraping glass cos they wont scratch, i think your customers are having you over

Hand the custies your pole and ask them to see if they can scratch the same pane of glass.

the slightest of sharpness will scratch most double glazing because its made so cheaply now, years ago they said only diomonds can scratch glass!
but a corner of a wfp a few years old can scratch glass

I relpyed by email (they are now a ex customer)

Hi Mrs. West

Thank you for your email

I did indeed receive a call to my mobile today, but I couldn't make head or
tail who it was, as the reception was bad

Regarding the scratched window you informed me about!

I have been a window cleaner for over 25 years and 15 years with a water fed
pole and in that time have had no problems with scratched glass

All our equipment has been tried and tested before it is sold to all UK
window cleaners, and soft brittle brush heads cant scratch glass, you would
need something  very sharp and a lot of force??

Sorry for any misunderstanding and I wish you all the best

No.  It's impossible.

No.  It's impossible.
although we would all love to think its impossible I can assure you that it is very easy to scratch glass, my friend is a window fitter and on a old piece of double glazed glass we managed to scratch it with a small stone, the corner of my brush ( but with a lot of force) and a few other objects.
so basically DONT use the corner of your brushes, or if you do make sure you have some bristles under it to stop it been plastic on glass

I remember trying to get bird poo off a window, when trad,

i was rubbing away with the end of my applicator, when i suddenly noticed a long mark on the window

that i could not shift, that was not there before, ... looked at the end of my applicater, and the plastic bar

was poking out the end of a hole  ::)roll

lets just say for the next year of cleaning his windows, before he moved, i could not get rid of that long mark

 off the  glass,    :-\

It depends on the tds of the water. If there a lots of minerals in the water it can scatch the glass.

And I find a wfp pole is good for scratching my back, so why not glass?

i've had about 6 customers complain about scratches in 8 years, one was on inside and they didnt realise, two i paid to replace windows to keep things sweet, felt sick though, two i said not sure how they got there and one i managed to sand it out, i do think the brushes can leave a scratch wether it be bits in the bristles or something else, try to be careful now but just had the sixth customer say it the other day.

Ive heard it a lot from customers. Im trad and pick up alot of work from wfp guys and the customers excuse most often than not is that wfp scratches the glass. I just think customers dont like the system and find any excuse to get back a trad window cleaner.  ;D

I do whats best for my business, wfp earns me a good living and if you fell off a ladder and get hurt bad customers dont give a poo but your have to live with it for the rest of your life?

I have had two complains in 12 years, turns out the so called scratch window had just been fitted? so they will contact the window fitter
