I currently have a few vans on the go, each has 2 men working in it on domestics only.
I cant help thinking if i put each man in a van of his own it would be more productive and increase turnover/profits.
has anyone done this and is my thinking correct?

yep if its purely about the money 1 man in van is best i believe.
say 1 man can do £250 on his own. 2 men will not do £500. more like £400 max i would say.
so 2 men in x 2 vans doing £250 each = £500 per day= £10k per 4wks @ 20working days
susequently 2 men in 1 van doing £400 = £8000 pr 4 wks@ 20 working days
or whatever your daily figures are?
crunch your numbers m8
im just about to split up a 2 man team into 2 vans as the extra they do as a 2 man team against 2 x 1 man vans is not worth it.
also when u employ 2 man teams get comfortable with each other and allow each others sloppiness & habits to become intertwined.
single ops are more easily managed.

we are a two man two van operation, we occasionally double up into one van depending on the location and workload, definitely more productive in separate vans tho

More van insurance !!! More fuel cost !!!

The extra costs involved are my main concern, I was just wondering if anyone had made the switch and noticed a difference.
I will do as suggested and "crunch the numbers"

yes we have,we our at the end of our 1st full month of going to 2 vans 1 bloke in each.
we were 2 blokes in one van
i am giving the bloke a chance to settle in to a routine, I say he is about £40/60 down on a day what I would except him todo when up to speed
