Title: bin cleaning water disposal problem
Post by: rb4no on September 25, 2013, 10:06:56 am
thinking of buying a house however it's one from last terrace with sewer drains in the garden therefore i can't dispose of the bin waste water at the front. Has anyone here faced a similar problem, how have you tackled this, was thinking of taking a pipe from the front running it along a wall under the stairs then taking it under the floor in the kitchen into the garden? It's easily doable although the wife isn't pleased about her nice floor being ripped up. Any thoughts??

I recon your on the way to a 'quicky' divorce. Personally I wouldn't do anything internally and surely that must be covered via building regs etc, can u not extent add additional sewage point to the front of the property obviously not cheap.. know this isn't helpful but look for other homes which can work with your personal life plus work commitments.

what's confusing?? all utilities are along the back of the house with drains running into the neighbours gardens and joining main drains at the end of the street. The only way to extend drains to the front is by means of what I said before, i.e. extend a pipe from the back of the house i.e. kitchen then under the stairs and then out the front wall. we intend to do some work to the house anyway so lifting a few floor tiles is no biggy in fact it wouldn't constitute a big job to do anyway but was thinking of regs etc, would the water company have any say in how to setup a sewer drain? I don't want to ask them in case they come up with something that they hadn't thought of before etc.

Do you have an Inspection chamber in the garden ? How old is the house ?  ie, is it built prior to may 1937 ? If so it would be a section 24 ? If you don't have a chamber then you will need permission to connect from the local sewage provider

Are you allowed to dispose of what could be termed commercial waste down the drain?

If you are last from 1 do you not have  communal access through to your garden so maybe roll out a hose from sewer to van

It has an inspection chamber and the house is from the seventies I recon. It's also a bungalow so the floor is concrete so it's gonna be a major one to rip everything up. I think I'm going to have to lay a hose and get a pump to shift it fast and then see what can be done! thanks guys....

excuse my last post only the warden has only just woken me up from my two day slumber!!! the new place have a stricter regime. I'll be using hamster wheel powered pumps, if you get in excess of thirty working in unison to some dance music you'll find you can shift about four and a half litres of water a minute!!! I like keeping things green if you know what I mean!
