Title: Truck Washing
Post by: Mr B on September 23, 2013, 08:34:21 am
Just wanted to know if anyone else on here offered truck and van cleaning as part of their services?

We've been doing it for a while now for a few companies, but I'm still to find a decent shampoo/TFR that I'm happy with the results 100%.

For instance, some of the curtainsiders we clean NEVER come up nice despite having hot water on them and being scrubbed with various chemicals... The customer's happy enough, but I'd like to find a snow foam or TFR that gets rid off 100% of the marks on the curtains.

Any ideas or suggestions peeps?!

Alex I do a lot of this, I have a regular contract were I do 50 trailers a week and had one up until last year with a 100 trailers a week and you will struggle to get every mark of just simply because it's so hard to apply pressure at height witha brush.

Some products will remove 100% of every mark, even the neat TFR I use does but doing every square inch of a trailer with this method would take hours and again applying pressure at height is hard unless you have a cherry picker or similar.

What product are you using?

At the moment we're using ABREX stuff, its marketed as curtainside cleaner etc, and it's not bad, just not brilliant if you know what I mean?!

We used to do more but now chucked it and found myself keeping a local contract:
5 sprinter lutons
20 14/18T lorries
6 trailers
8 tractor rigs

We use TR Bonnyman TFR600 and it brings everything up nicely and bodywork Nice and clean. We can't get the black marks off left from the strap friction but that's just part of tarpaulin curtainsides unfortunately.

Quite fancy getting into it again as it's good cash

I've often thought of getting into truck / fleet cleaning... What's the money like? I suppose it's pretty regular work... How do you go about finding the contracts? Telesales?

Andy :-)

Money can be pretty good if you get a good contract, but it's trying to persuade companies to spend money on what a lot of companies consider an 'unecessary expense' if you ask me.

I have a few companies we clean for now, but both have approached us after seeing our work elsewhere.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.
