over the year 3 years I have been in business my vans have been vandalised at least once per year, I was getting quite fed up with repairing it.
So I bought this Swann CCTV for around £250, it comes with 4 cameras, a 30day hard drive, wifi viewing from any smart phone, motion detector, zoom, and black and white footage for night time.
Im not saying this will stop people, but as the cameras glow with red rings im sure most people would avoid them.
if you lived in a house with not many cars going up and down the street the motion sensor would be a great idea because it can detect small movements (cats) medium( people) or large ( cars, people, animals) so basically if it beeps in the night theres something dodgey going on.
Also the Wifi viewing is a good idea! this photo was taken from my phone, my van would usually be on the drive but my brothers GTR took the place this day ::)roll

I forgot to put a photo on hahahaha!! Im at work now will do it later

I wonder how your neighbors will feel bing under surveillance lol.
Seriously though you should check what your legal duties as regards filming in people's gardens etc. I know its only a little bit, but some people are very sensitive about it.
If it was my house I'm not sure how I would feel about it. 50% glad because its a crime dtereent, 50% invasion of privacy maybe.
-
How many vans you got on the road mate?
-
Looks like just the one van, think someone has dumped an old silver motor on ya drive pmsl !!!
-
haha I was joking about the FLEET lads!
and the neighbours love it, in the last year our local shops got burnt down, 3 cars in the road were damaged, a lad hit his step dad with a hockey stick, and next doors bike got stolen. I have asked the ones and there fine with it.
police said along as there is no complaints its fine, however if I needed to use it as evidence I would only be aloud to use the cameras pointing on my property. I would prefer to deal with it in my own way instead of police anyway
-
Looks good in the daylight what's the picture like at night?
-
Its amazing,a shame that we need this equipment.
-
well depends what your looking for but i don't think many CCTV would pick up a face from distance at night, however i can recognise cars that pull down, and if its someone i have upset im sure i will see there car lol.
Its just nice to know that the rag bone men wont be stealing my bike, or i can fill the van up whilst sitting next to the cctv eating my breakfast and not worry about the garage been open.
Its nice when you see the Jehovahs witness's coming aswell ::)roll and when your take away arrives.
all in all there a deecent buy for £250 and there for life, chances are if anyone is going to do any damage and they look up and see these they will run a mile

Are the cameras wireless or do have to
run cables all over the house?
Would it be possible to put up a link where
you bought them from?

it has been used with great success

You only need to run cabling through the soffit to the loft where you set up your recorder.
-
will the night vision work through glass?
I presume its a wired system?
-
Sorry for slow replies, i think you get 20m cable so run it behind your facias, we had to but extension cables to get ours into the kitchen. Just depends where you want it setting up.
Just type in google "maplins" and they sell them!! Look on youtube for videos of the swan in action. You can buy 360rotating pan tilt and zoom camera for extra £200 unreal quality!!

I had wireless cam. Got it off Fleabay for about 40 quid. The recorder cost about 150 quid also from Fleabay.
There are set ups now for PC's with wireless cams too. This gear has become really cheap lately.
Probably nicked!! ;D

Any chance of a model number please. I was told to avoid these swann systems as the dvd part usually breaks after a few months. Then when you ring swann in Ireland or something they are forever putting you on hold.
Quality looks ok to me :)

I could stand outside your house pointing a video camera at it. Unless I cause you distress I wouldn't be doing anything wrong.

to be honest If I had kids playing in the street I would much rather have someones cctv watching them so to make sure there safe. It becomes a problem when its in peoples back gardens and as you can see on my photo you can hardly see anyones because of the fencing
