just took a call from a guy with a suede corner sofa that stinks of dog, he is not sure if it is genuine suede or faux suede and he's not concerned about any stains that might be on it just wants rid of the smell any advice please ?.
I will be going to look at it tomorrow evening.

If its Faux suede - typical DFS type sofa... it will be wet cleanable.
Dry vac it to death removing all the cushions...
Several products you could use would be:
Mpower/Nemesis - apply hot and spray liberally - 20 mins dwell - extract
Craftex Pre Enzyme treatment - same method as above
Craftex "Natural Tones" - use this for post misting to kill any existing odour.

Use one of Russ's torches for a good pre inspection.
You will have urine, oil from coat and drool to deal with.
As Russ says enzymes then a deodoriser. My preference is Chemspec Kill Odour Plus as it is built on same technology as their urine contamination treatment. Add it into your rinse then give a good towel off.

what if it is genuine suede ?

Just ask him how much he paid for it if its real suede then it will be about 4 times more expensive. Than your standard dfs sofa. If it is I would not clean it as you will struggle to clean it and get the smell out of it.

thanks for the info guys

Dig around and find the backing of the material, if it means taking the base material off then so be it.
Faux suede will be a material backing, real suede will be a skin backing.
Avoid solvants and high ph on faux suede as that can break down the adhesives

went to see the sofa tonight, its from harveys, defo not suede and not faux suede either imo , though it looks suede . ish, anyway i'm going to try it using releasit and an enzyme digester after (think I have some craftex in the shed).
