Title: Clx18 v Slx18
Post by: Jim Waugh(Albright & Shiny) on September 09, 2013, 05:24:55 pm
Whats the stiffest. CLX 18 or SLX 18..
and is the weight difference (50g) worth the price difference?

UPTO this last week i always used a clx 18 then decided to split down my slx35 into a slx22 and  and surprisingly i find this pole better mainly for the rigidity so go for the slx

You wont notice much difference in rigidity between the clx18 and slx18.
So the only thing that would make me pay extra for a slx18 is if I thought it
would last longer.

Sorry, but from experience I have to disagree, I had a CLX, I now have SLX and Extreme poles, you get what you pay for.

Nobody is going to disagree when you say the slx or extreme poles are better than the clx but when working at 18 ft. or less you don't need them.
I have a slx25 and if I extend it to 18 ft. I honestly don't notice much difference in the rigidity compared to the 18 ft. clx.

Its starting to look like the Clx is starting to look like the option.
Im starting up and its half the price.
I have an old heavy fibreglass 30 footer that behaves like a whip ariel on a clansman radio.
Between the two I should manage to do most jobs until I can afford to compete with Dazmond and have an extreme for every occasion… lol

That's not a great comparison tho, if you compared the 18' SLX with the 18' CLX then you would feel the difference. Totally different feel to a 25'

22ft is great for domestic work and it gives you that little more reach for over conny roofs ect
