Title: Customer database
Post by: Neil Jones on September 08, 2013, 08:18:22 am
Hi, I've been offered a customer database with 112 people on with all address and about 90% phone numbers. It's for a valeting company based local to me.
It would probably cost around £180.00.

I don't do much valeting any more at all but I know this guy charges a decent amount for a valet and this database has sustained him for the past 8 or so years. I have someone who does pressure washing with me and the odd job, I'm considering buying this database and using him to carry out the work, what do people think, any experience with anything like this?

I have potential to use this database for my other services as well, maybe making up some kind of welcome pack and putting it in the post.

Personally I feel that's a lot of money for some names, no handover, introductions, or expectation of work from this list, also you have said you no longer do valet work, why is this ? ( little or no profit, too much like hard work etc... )

Yes you MAY get other types of work from this list but in reality it's a very small list I'd be willing to take a punt at £50 and then give say £5 per solid lead job you get

Not a bad idea that thanks Darren, I was thinking that. It's regular work valeting, so the potential is money back from two customer within a month, perfect scenario.
I do think it is expensive tho. May try to haggle although he says someone is interested at the price he wants.
Valeting in general is crap unless you have customers willing to pay, it's regular though so has it benefit. I'm in Oldham, car wash on every corner, had some guy ring me on a Sunday a few week ago asking me to valet his car for £12.00. He couldn't believe I wouldn't do.

Offer him £250 for it, £100 now £150 in 6 months  if you've made a good return from it.

If he turns down this offer he's either an idiot or he knows the list is rubbish

I don't know the car valeting market, but I for one have noticed the 'hand car wash' in closed down service stations with prices from £5 outside £7 in/out and do a great job for the price and that's what your competing with - hopefully there is enough higher quality work out there for mobile valet services

Got some1 else interested - ? Yeah oldest sales trick in the book
