Title: how much di resin to polish?
Post by: gsw on March 05, 2006, 08:22:57 pm
Hi all, I am RO'ing my tap water down to around 015 ppm and would like some advice on the what vessel size I will need to polish with resin down to 000.
I need around 300L a day so If I used say an 8 litre vessel does anyone have any ideas how often the resin would need changing........ trying to workout some costs. thanks in advance,  greg.

Hi GSW

Here is a formula that gives a very good guide to DI resin use. It is based on a 25ltr bag of resin.

You take the figure 500000 and divide it by your TDS into the resin. So at your TDS in of 15 PPM you will get approx 33333 ltrs of pure out of a 25ltr bag. A mid size DI resin vessel will do you just fine :)

Hope this helps

Andrew

Interesting post.

My tap water is 52, if i use DI only I could get about 9615 L

Upstaires only, how long would the resin last?

A normalish house is meant to be about 15 litres for tops only I think I read on here (though I'm sure I still use a lot more than that).  I make that 641 houses @ 15 litres per house.  I imagine that's around 5 - 8 grand turnover (depending what you charge) per £70-80ish bag of resin.
