I'm in the market for a new hose reel, needs to be wheeled and be able to hold 100 metres of minibore 8mm id.
It's to replace a standard metal hose reel that has been used daily since 2006 :o Now I know I could just replace with the same but a lot more kit is on the market now, so was wondering what your all using and who the best suppliers are? before I make a decision and buy a new one.
Anyone tried the blue Pure Freedom hose reel the purpose built one they build themselves? they look strong and well made but possibly heavy for lifting in and out the van all day.
Your thoughts please Ladies and Gentlemen

I've got a Pure Freedom hose reel but without wheels and it is very bad so I wouldn't recommend, it's not stable at all, the hose keeps slipping off the sides and tangling up, plus barely big enough to take 100 metres, very poorly designed.

Hi Dazmond
That's the one I originally fancied buying but was told by the Gardiner gang that it's not suitable for 100 metres of mini bore and we use hot water in the winter.
Anyone else have anymore suggestions on makes, models and suppliers, fire them over ;)

Brodex one on wheels is bomb proof!

We use these http://www.windowcleaningwarehouse.co.uk/shop/index.php?option=com_aceshop&route=product/product&path=92_71&product_id=716 with 100m of Gardiners thermobore on. Just replace the handle for a metal one!

Looks good but heavy? Their reputation for after sales service has always put me off buying Brodex, but for a small item like a hose reel I guess there can't be too much to worry about ;D strength is important, then ease of use getting the hose back on the reel and also lightness as it's in and out of the van many times during the day.

Hi S.A.J
That looks a lot like the one I need to replace just a different colour. So maybe it's a case of "better the devil you know" :D looks like the handle is metal in your link so what do you mean about changing it? and if it needs changing to metal where do you buy the handle that is compatible to this reel?
I've got a heated system that will heat the water to 80 deg although I don't use thermobore just standard minibore that I bought from Cleantech before they stopped trading, never had any problems with hose melting, swelling ETC but I guess if thermobore holds the heat in better? this could be an advantage during the winter

Yeah this is the type I've been using. Bought them in 2006 from Stream, so time to replace them looks like I'll be ordering the same type again and notice Window Cleaning Warehouse sell them too
-
I have the black one from Cleaning Spot for the last four years and is superb!
-
I think these are great reels seem t o last ,only thing is when it's a fixed reel the hose often catches in the petal ,trying to find an alternative wit without spending a fortune

The newest Purefreedom hosereels are a nightmare leave well alone.

You can buy new parts for them. The center axel and bushes are available.
Mines a bit rusted but still works well with a drop of 3 in 1 oil occassionally. I dislike the 'petal' sides as the hose tends to 'hook' on them if you pull it off at an angle, but that a minor issue.
I like the wheels as I can roll the reel out to the end and unreel the hose back to the van which is great for those gardens whose back access isn't easy.

Thanks Guy's looks like my mind is made up and I'll replace with the same that I've been using for the past few years. The wheeled metal hose reel. Anyone recommend the best supplier? ;)
