Servicemaster products are good if you could get hold of them ;)

Ask your supplier for ones that are based on micelles technology, as these type are the safest available.

You have a few there Russ :o

You're better off with an assortment of different products, SPM, Fabric Restorer, Shockwave, even Power burst, that way you have something for most soil conditions.

Power burst and shock wave on upholstery Simon :o

Steve,
Like I said, have an assortment so you can deal with anything, including filthy pub and club upholstery where only the likes of pb and SW will do the job. Likewise restaurant chairs etc.

It's a good job I've got both then Simon but would be quite nervous with that sort of nuke :o
-
Surely its OK to use on synthetic fabrics

Steve,
You've been listening to too much hype and misinformation about PB.
It's not a nuke, it's a strong detergent used on very dirty carpets AND if needs be upholstery. If you acid rinse it and used as directed there's no more problem with it than any other chemical.

Will agree with Simon this time it’s not like you are using Strongarm (not that I’ve used it on soft furnishing yet ;))
-
Well I've learnt something new today thanks guys, that's what this forum is for

Like Simon I have used powerburst on upholstery with great results as a last resort. It's all about using what you have in your armoury to do the best job efficiently. I would not recommend it for anyone inexperienced or just starting out as you could end up with all sorts of problems from lack of knowledge. Heavy duty carpet traffic lane cleaners have a high ph and have wetting agents designed for penetrating carpets. Upholstery cleaners have less wetting agents for obvious reasons. If by chance you do have a problem after cleaning a piece of upholstery I doubt your insurance company would look favourably on you using products not designed for the job.

So what spotters would you all use
-
Steve,
Same answer, an assortment of products to deal with a wide variety of stains and just as importantly the knowledge and skills to use them safely and effectively.

The other day I had a problem sofa... 100% light beige acrylic... The rest of the sofa cleaned up well apart from the seat cushions and front areas where the back of your legs rest.
The areas looks darker, a sort of grey colour... Anyway I used a selection of cleaning products including solvents and it just would not budge.
I then tried MPower and left it for 10 mins, extracted and that did the trick.
Sometimes the most gentlest cleaner in the van works best depending on the situation

That is why we always recommend micelles based stain removers as they are safe and effective on any surface washable with water.
