from someone who has used both, whats best, electric or gas?
can you clean ovens just as fast using bio cleaning products?
any reccomendations for training companies,
I've found lots if info but it all seems to be biased towards their ways, ie bio or elctric etc... seems quite complicated and i want to psend my money wisely and get off to the perfect start. this will be a seperate business and run by my wife.
any non biased help would be appreciated.

Good luck to your wife ! I hope she employs someone, sorry to say but worse job we every did ...... offered the service years ago sooo glad we ditched it. Now we simply pass on work to local franchisee ;)

if your looking at a dip tank i would always go for gas, the electric tanks dont tend to heat the water enough, and cost wise the electric tanks have emersion tank heater elements in, these use far more electricity than you would gas and not sure customers would appreciate you plugging into their mains to give the tank a heating boost?
Electric tanks are usually van mounted and you carry the solution around with you all day/week (however long you leave it between refills) not sure how good an idea this is if you were to have an accident, let alone if you had an accident with a tank full of caustic/corrosive products?
I use a standard tank and empty it after each job, using bio degreasers. I prefer to make up a new solution each time just incase customers come out to have a look (many do) then the tank is relatively clean and the solution is not too dirty.
I'm about to upgrade to a metal van mounted gas dip tank, but will continue using the bio degreasers, ive looked at the electric tanks but cant see the benefit, some may disagree with me just my opinion.
I'd be happy to offer you training and help you set up with 3 months supply of equipment if you want?

Don't spend a penny find somebody to show you the ropes as it makes pressure washing seem like
the best job in the world also its a pain booking ovens then having to turn carpet cleaning away

Have to agree that Oven cleaning isnt the best job in the world, but then thats what makes it pay so well, there is a lack of competition and its a job homeowners hate to do.
Tough going first 12-18 months like any business, but once you've filled your diary with 12 monthly return customers the jobs get easier and you can easily earn £750-£1000 a week.
But you do have days when you wonder why you went into oven cleaning! its definatley for the comitted who arnt afraid of hard work

on the job training, but I do have premises where I could set up in the future, for now its training and equipment provided.

wat about cleaning ovens using steam.anyone tried this your views most appreciated.thanks john

Steam and electrics.......not the best bedfellows i'd give that idea a swerve if I were you. Can only agree with all the comments above, most people go into oven cleaning as they think it's an easy way to earn a living, but as an oven cleaner with a good few years experience I can tell you it's not easy, it's extremely physically demanding And takes a real toll on your knees and back. Personally I love cleaning ovens as I like the end result and the chatting to 3 or 4 different customers each day but if you fancy giving it a go be prepared for some seriously hard work.
Just to chip in with the gas or electric debate, I have used both and am now using gas in all of my vans and would never return to electric, gas is far easier and in this day and age you don't need to leave cables everywhere for the public to trip over.....don't forget 'where there's blame there's a claim' !

Can I ask why you wouldn't use steam? I'm currently researching oven cleaning and have had contact with people who successfully use steam to help clean ovens.
