1- do you all have a pitch you use.... if so what can I say
2- if I spend 3-4 hours this Saturday and sunday do you think I will gain a few custys?? im quite nervous
3- how do I handle them rude and arrogant people I have been told about 8-)?

Saturday is a good day for it, I go out most Saturdays for a few hours.
1 an hour is a good average, some days you might get 2 or 3 an hour, other days you might get nothing all day.

Also No 4:

How to deal with them people who open the door and look down at you because you are just a window cleaner !!!!

These are the ones who think window cleaners are people who go round doing it for beer money or simply thick and not clever enough to get a proper job.

Be ready for them, there are loads of them.

Remember one of them stood behind me in the bank once, should have seen there face when I made a withdrawel  ;)

My answer is simple, let them think they are well off and better than the window cleaner  ;)

What makes me laugh is the reaction to some people well i say i own a window cleaning business.
Im 21 now so alot of my mates have trades... Plumbing, electrian etc. however they all moan anout their jobs! I never ever moan about mine i love it.
People just dont see the money making opertunitys in window cleaning at a proffesional level!
At the end of the day i dont know many 21 year olds who make £20-£40 an hour, working 9-3ish and been their own boss

If nerves are a problem have a few drinks to relax yourself.
I find it best to take a few cans of cider when canvassing, to keep topped up. A can in the hand can be an ice breaker with a prospective customer, too.
You wouldn't want to appear unprofessional because of your nerves.

There's no pitch needed mate, I've got about 500 customers and most came from simply being asked 'do you need a window cleaner'

I need to get my act together and man up then don't I!
I live in a area were 90% of the window cleaners don't do a very good job.
the local one has 4, how do I put this? smack heads working for him and he has over 1600houses apparently... so if he can do it im sure I can

If you're nervous about canvassing then start by knocking on neighbours when you're cleaning. Pick a couple either side and across the road and go and knock. Take a leaflet, smile and simply say "Sorry to bother you but I've just been cleaning your neighbours house and I wondered if you'd like a window cleaner as well?" Most will say no but it will get you into the swing of talking to strangers.

Some practical advice young man ,

Wear a clean logo'ed shirt /t shirt ,be presentable,  be clean shaven , neat and tidy hair cut,  be polite ,  etc , etc, ask if they would like to have their windows cleaned, if they say no , give them a flyer and say  "in case you change your  mind or if you  get let down by your current window cleaner "

Set yourself a goal of  100 homes ,  adapt and learn from your experience, you never know you may be a natural.

just keep it simple, no big speeches, practice in front of a mirror if nervous then practice with family friends etc, then just knock and go for it
