Title: Santander
Post by: Doug Holloway on August 20, 2013, 05:32:29 pm
Hi Guys

For some years I have had a business account with Santander which has been o.k.

In the past 2 days I have asked them to make a CHAPS transfer which in banking terms is like asking a CC to remove a piece of mud.

They have failed miserably and have lied throughout the 'process'.

My fault for being with such a rubbish bank but worth thinking about if you want more sophisticated banking in the future, I will be closing the account.

Cheers

Doug

Just moved to co-op business.  Free so saving £300 a year.  Can pay in at local post office which is handy as its at the bottom of the hill.

Doug

CHAPS is normally used for big amounts and they charge big for it

Couldn’t you have Bacs It?

Have to say Santander never had a problem and made 2 £30k payments into Barclay’s account without any problem (same day within the hour)

I pay my taxes begrudgingly, just giving an example how to pay someone. Have yet to find any bank that gives a guaranty payment system even if you handover cash at the till!!!!!

A mate works for a company who banks with Barclays he also banks with Barclays always one day delay in receiving wages keep telling him it there computer system it there but not showing.

List of good banks C Hoare & Co, Coutts but you must have a few bob they don’t like peasants and are not so pushy when they see balance of your account unlike the high street mob

And before any asks we do have an account with one of them

Had a saving account with Santander, never again. Been with HSBC for ten years and now have five accounts with them, can't really complain. Although they've just started charging for the Buisness account so I'll see how it goes.

What is it that makes Santander so bad?

I been with them years, no complaints, free business banking too, so a lot cheaper than Lloyds who I was with before.

Santander and Lloyds and most other major banks are part of the faster payments system now so BACs goes through in max of 3hrs, but most of the time it's like 20 mins, so thats the same with all.

I would think they are all much of a muchness.

Hi Guys

Not only has it been an appalling service but they have basically lied throughout.

I was advised by my solicitor to use CHAPS rather than BACS because of the size, Santander just couldn't handle it.

At the same time I was using CHAPS with Nationwide who have been brilliant, says it all.

Cheers

They are shocking to deal with both face to face and over the phone.I closed personal and business accounts they continued to pay direct debits even though the account was closed then added charges to account for being overdrawn. The manager couldn't understand how it happened as she was the one that closed the personal account the  business account was done over the phone I still get statements showing money in the account yet when I ring to get a cheque they say the account is closed.
The personal account was still showing money in the account even after direct debits/charges were taken yet I could not access account as cheque book/card was destroyed called into the branch again to speak to manager who handed over the money on showing id it was a fair whack yet it took 2 months to sort it out even after saying I was overdrawn.

There was a programme on the other morning with Dominic Little investigating Santander where guy had account with £8000 in with Abbey National with passbook which was taken over by Santander when he went to withdraw the money he was told the account was closed still no explanation where the money was. Santander have more complaints than any other bank in the country according to the programme

Hi Guys

So far I have an apology but am pushing for compensation, or I will go to the Ombudsman.

Will keep you updated.

I suppose it is a case of pay peanuts, free business banking , get monkeys.

Cheers
