Just had an email out of the blue from someone who says hes a recent graduate specialising in SEO wanting to start up his own business.
Hes looking to do FREE SEO to build up his portfolio. Says he has references. Gives his name, address and phone number so it dosent sound like the usual con men type emails.
SO if I give him the password to my wordpress site whats the worst that could happen??
Worth the punt or stay well clear??
THanks
Mark

be careful with that , could well be some one paid by one of your competitors to destroy your website .

Mark, in Wordpress you can hide parts of the admin area but I would imagine you cannot allow access for this without giving out the master login details.
The guy is probably just offering free stuff hoping that you will upgrade to some paid service later.
The only problem with a degree in SEO is that two years and ten months of it will probably be obsolete.
If you do get involved, make sure you keep a back up of your whole site (including mysql database) in case something goes wrong. You can always re install it again.

I very much doubt that

I would ask him to do a report on your website and give a list of improvements he would make if you gave him access to your site. Or does he need to see the actual programming ?

As I said on the other channel and as Garry said if you go for it keep a backup including msql database! Nothing to loose and an easy reinstall!

We can learn a lot about potential cleaning customers here as the shoe is on the other foot..
The lad is probably all above board but a lot of people are wary.
Maybe cleaning customers have the same doubts about cleaning companies?
How do we tackle those reservations?

Don't advertise and be so remarkable you just work off referral. ;)
