some window cleaners are just not interested in WFP.i know a few trad guys and they seem decent enough guys but ive seen them hanging off slate roofs in wind, using b and q ladders on gravel driveways etc.some of them have been going 20 years or more and they still have to shout "get up a ladder mate!and do em properly!"when they see me working with a pole.

yes lots of window cleaners are stupid!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

what a load of bull! its just showing how unsafe people work! (I didn't film this)

I have a 9m triple extension ladder that I use at times, fully out, not work shy at all, and only really have 1 day a week that I'm not doing anything work related!

this show how unsafe some work and the risk of losing there life just for a few quid! without a care on what would happen to there family if anything did happen, if he fell he would be dead, no more cares in the world. his friends and family will have to pick up the pieces!
plus not caring for the home owners property or even the home owner themselves  either as it would come down to them as well and they could get in trouble for allowing them to work like this!

Need to watch with the sound down especially with smalls around. But it was truly gobsmacking, in all my life I have never seen anything so stupid. And all for a £1.50 window. I doubt the home owners would be impressed.

Simon.

I'm certain these two guy's wont be newbies at all, rather seasoned window cleaners with years of traditional window cleaning and ladder work. I'm in no way condoning their method of work as it's clearly NOT good practice. But guy's with no experience of window cleaning "newbies" would struggle to get those ladders in place, let alone get up there, clean the windows, get back down with no damage to themselves or the roof   ;D

why would they even attempt to work like that, surely if they where going to use a ladder then I think using one straight from the floor to above the top window would not be too far out provided it was footed correctly, I am not one to meddle in how others carry out their work but if I had witnessed that I would of had a word with them and shown them a safer way to do them, as for grassing them up I don't think that will achieve much apart from getting them an hefty fine but they do need showing a safer way to work

I agree trevor, sadly someone will report this and a few livelihoods will be lost to heavy fines in a few months time, and possibly a home owner fined too, sad when a bit of eduction would suffice

i sort of agree stu but lets be honest WFP is not new, the chances are they just dont want to spend the investment and if they are reported and fined it may save there lives

as a 3rd genration painter and decorator turned his painting firm in to a window cleaning firm due to the lack of windows to paint, all i can say about this is WHATS WRONG WITH THIS any one who knows ladders and how to use them would use this in the painting trade this sort of thing is the norm and i have been doing it since i was 12 when i started out in the famliy business.

all i can say to all you guys who wet them selves about the H & S men, is grow a backbone and tell them to sod off. they can do s..t

I quite like the idea of the only people who don't follow sensible rules about H & S are the big tough 'guys' with hard as iron backbones who could withstand an atomic onslaught and not even spill their pint sized mug of tea, and with one roar those shriveling little nimby H & S men in their bowler hats run and hide in the bushes.

Yup, hats off to the big tough ladder man who struts with his triple extension as if it were a feather.

I have a 9m set of triple ladders! but  my life is worth more than £10 for doing things like that!

I agree totally.

I think what happens is sometimes, people assume that an action becomes less risky the more they take the risk and nothing untoward happens.

It's like people who drive too close to the car in front. Their mentality says I was ok the last time I did that and didn't have an accident so it will be ok this time despite the well documented and obviously increased and known about risk of having the accident.

People who take risks with ladders generally are the one who have the most injuries and deaths.
