hi alex hate to bother you, but i thought you might be able to help me.
i have just bought your 8m hose for i thought it would be a better flow rate for my pump and it seemed great, went on the hose real fine and everything.
as soon as i put water in the hose it tangled up everywhere for two days, it is completely unworkable it winds up everytime i reel it in, i have had to take it off and use old orange ionics instead, it is not just bad to work with but completely not usable?
perhaps you could help me?
thanks and very best regards

Do you mean the pole hose?
-
Your meant to remove the plastic packaging first ;D

no its not the pole hose, its the minibore, in all the years i have been window cleaning this is worst hose i have ever used, ive just wasted £60 on in, and now its too late ive cut the hose, im really stressed over it now. im not slating gardiners in any way infact i recommend them for anything but this particular hose was beyond terrible

and i forgot alex email lol

Hi Michael
Now that you have 'cut' it I suppose any user advice is too late!
With any new hose there will be a breaking in period whilst it loses it coil memory from being tightly rolled from manufacturing and storage. The tougher the hose the more this memory effect will be noticed at first.
There are several ways to minimize this breaking in period. First of all many find that winding the hose from the coil onto the hose reel cartfrom the centre of coil of hose rather than the outside of the coil. This is because the tightly wound centre hose is then wound back on to the centre of the reel. This can make a large difference. The other thing to do is to reel the hose fully out and leave in several straight long runs full of water over night and then wind back up and use. alternatively if you work with the hose for a couple weeks it will soon become fully malleable.

thanks alex for your reply

Run hot water through it.
Then it'll lose its 'coil memory' pretty quick.
All the hoses I've ever used are a proper ballache for about a week. Then they settle in.
Patience is the key.

Roll it out rather than pulling the hose off the reel.
Rolling out adds no twists.
Pulling the hose off the reel adds one twist for every loop you pull.
And roll it out on a hot, sunny day then leave it in the sun for twenty minutes before rolling back onto the reel.

Reminds me of Billy Connolly - "This guitar was in tune when I bought it!"
Or my gran giving out because "This wool you sold me has all knotted up on me!" ;D ;D ;D
