You can use one of these but you will burn out the pressure switch on your pump very quickly - I speak from experience - your best bet will be to invest in a varistream style box of tricks that will regulate your flow and switch the pump off when you have a stop end connecter and disconnect the pole.

Hi marc
I do have a varistream box. i thought that by using a shut off valve i would save on water when moving about rather than go back to the varistream box and turn it off.
Is'nt the varistream box ment for this purpose so that i don't mess the pump up?
Regards

If you have a varistream then this won't be a problem at all, I mis-understood your question in that case, it won't be a problem, maybe just a bit delicate. Today I saw a friend had rigged up a little shut off valve at the top of his pole where the brush feed comes out of the pole, might be an idea??

Both hands on the pole, no loops or joins- and faster. Look at an Autobrush.

i have looked at the autobrush.
i have a question.
if the window is flush with the wall, as most of mine are .
do you have to turn the brush out 90 degrees to the wall to turn it of.
and when you do. does the water spray across the wall and maybe next door.
sorry to be negative but it does seem awkward compared to a tap in your hand on the pole.

That`s what iv`e always thought, but i still say you can`t beat a trigger,Gaz

Yes Mark flush fiting windows and ones with 45 degree frames can be a prob but I usually find the barge board or gutter handy or like you say spin the brush 90 degrees. I made a tap on the pole 8 years ago I thought it was a pain.

It makes me laugh somtimes.
Were all differerent.
Its not just wfp or trad.
Its autobrush or tap.
Its van mount, trolly or backpack
Trickoflex or microbore.
Vikan brush or salmon.
Ro or Di.
This site is brilliant i love it.

For a minute, i thought that was a rhyme,
About how wfp can frustrate you in time,
Do i buy trolley or backpack?
Or van mount or rucksack?
Oh the torment we go through to make glass shine :(

Well really me ole mush
I like the auto brush
(from Peter Fogwill -
just tap it on the cill)
So it's a breeze
To turn it 90 degrees
You really oughter
Cuz it saves on water!

can you use peters auto brush with a back pack

Hi Wightstuff,
You can quite easily use a flow control valve with your pump, whether you have a varistream or not. We use 60 and 100psi flojet pumps and have been using them for 5 years now, we have always used flow control valves on the poles(as stocked on our site) and we have never burnt out a pressure switch (which is the part that is worked when using a valve) we have after 3 years managed to simply wear out a motor with constant use though! I do not know how long a Shurflo would last , I have heard of tales of them only lasting a year or so, which is why we don't use them.

Hello,
Does anyone know the best shut off valves for a static tank?
And where's the best place to get them?
Cheers,
Oceansponge.
