Title: General advice for pressure washing please..
Post by: Smudger on August 05, 2013, 09:35:08 pm
Hi guys,

Well the beast has arrived Honda gx390 with inter pump @ 21 LPM

Tried it out at the in laws yesterday and OMG I had trouble keeping the thing pointing at the ground  ;D

However a couple of points did arise

1. They requested the stone bird bath be cleaned which I duly did and in the process cut a few furrows into the lawn...  :-[  lesson learnt clean things on hard surfaces only

2. My final finish was not quite upto standard so when you have finished with the main cleaning what's the best method for cleaning down walls pot plant holders etc and the area cleaned ?  Do you use low pressure off the washer or use a garden hose just brush etc...

3. Following on from the other thread I intend to provide a T's and C's form to sign before hand I would be grateful for a rundown of what should be on it and if anyone would be totally kind to supply an electronic copy that would be fab

I know I'm asking a lot

Turn your pressure washer down at the throttle for rinsing off and low pressure wask, or buy a chemical nozzle / vario nozzle and turn your chem feed off when using a chem nozzle for rinsing or it will spit/splutter as it draws in air

How are you pushing the pressure washing side of the business, I had a big leaflet drop advertising a few different cleaning services, which got a really good response apart from the pressure washing !

Just two jobs so far  :o

We have 10k leaflets going out over the next 5 weeks

Updated the web and is featured in our summer newsletter which goes out to all our customers

Other promoting may be along the lines of newspaper ad (large) and telecanvassing

If you are just starting out pressure washing you have left it a bit late this year, (assuming you are targeting domestic customers as its a leaflet drop)

Surely the best time of year would of been March ?

Maybe, maybe not we got several enquiries over the last few weeks which is why we have expanded into this area.

We do get an upturn in window cleaning enquiries from march to June but usually that's because others have disappeared over the winter months. But we get enquiries all year round.

Time will tell if we have started at the wrong time
