A quick check on the net,

http://www.royal.gov.uk/latestnewsanddiary/factfiles/40factsaboutbuckinghampalace.aspx

states that Buckingham Palace is 24 metres high (79ft) so as usual the Daily Mail is making stuff up about the '100ft pole'.

Beat me to it.  >:(

"Applies the soap to the third floor window". No soap and it looks like the 2nd floor to me.

H&S would have a field day with that window cleaner. The sentry guard standing is the 'fall' zone. I also don't see any trip hazard signs or signs warning of the danger of falling objects, let alone any cordoning off of his working area.

I have been a window cleaner for over 40 years and believe me that system [water fed pole] will not clean that type of window very well

I have looked closely and it would actually appear to be a older Unger Telescopic Carbontec pole (that was made for them by Exel) - basically a Carbon X-Tel of about 50ft

If you look at the photo showing the chap holding the pole closer up you can clearly see a black X-Tel clamp. Then if you look at the top it seems to have an Unger gooseneck system and brush.
