Been looking at tank options for the van. Being a tight Git I can get an IBC for 50 Squid. Now naturally this will behave like a kangaroo on speed in the back of the van unless it get some baffling..
I have considered the following
1) chopping up Plastic down pipe. -Ruled it out cause it would cost almost as much as buying a proper tank..
2) Buting baffle balls.- Same thing costa few quid defeating the purpose.
My latest idea is to get a load of the 5L PET jerry cans ( My cider comes in it) cut big holes in the bottom throw the caps awayand stuff the IBC full of them.. would work out about 25 quid for new ones to stuff the tank full..
Anyone else tried this. or has had any other method of baffling an IBC?

That would work, maybe quite time consuming and have to make sure they are all wedged in and its full of them else they will float,or try something like this

I bought similar stuff, its perforated for water to soak away, just stuffed the tank full of it, made a huge difference.

Why don't you try a full IBC first. It's not as bad as you think. A full tank doesn't need baffling. A 3/4 tank will swish about a bit and may even rock you to sleep at the lights.

Like that field drain idea… my farmer buddy will have miles of it kicking around.. But first I will give trying the IBC un-baffled…

Just buy a proper tank and not be a hazard to yourself and everyone else! There is a reason why different tanks are made for different purposes!

Why would a "proper tank" be any safer than an IBC which has been baffled to a suitable level. I don't believe the laws of physics change just because something has been manufactured? Baffling is anything which reduces flow of water. Any of the above will baffle an IBC sufficiently.

An IBC with land drainage pipe will work as well as any manufactured tank but I would seriously NOT consider STRAPPING it into your van.
