Which of these methods do you feel you can charge/earn the most amount of money on per hour.
The only reason I ask is that I got the ladders out the other day, as a one off for a lady that insisted having them cleaned trad. Her old window cleaner converted to wfp and she reckons they were misting up because of it.
I normally turn trad work away but thought what the heck and charged her £60 for the privilege.
So, because more and more start up window cleaners are going straight in for wfp, is there a niche appearing in the market where you can charge over the odds for an old school window cleaning because they are becoming few and far between?
-
I'm the only wfp guy in my immediate area I've never seen anyone else use a pole yet. ;D
-
omg did you use your yellow mat under the ladder? for passes by ::)roll
-
Whether its because Swindon is home to ionics, but there appear to be floods of pole users here. I reckon I see a new outfit around every other week on my travels.
-
Wrong 'Sunshine' Dave
-
sorry mate :) .. wonder if he does use it under his ladder though ;D
-
There's definitely a premium to be charged round here.
-
They'd look at me as if I was some kind of idiot in my neck of the woods.
I do get asked if I charge more for using the pole however ;D

How big was the property?

I find there is a BIG 'niche' for decent wfp operators! Love all the pole wavers around here! ;)
-
Yes there is definitely a niche. Not saying you can charge over the odds on every property to revert back to cleaning windows traditionally but there are instances which crop up.
The most recent for us was a large out in the sticks pad, managed by an estate management company. We've been doing this place for 3 years, never a complaint. They called me up after the last clean voicing concern about the method cleaning, condition of the frames and could we revert to cleaning the windows traditionally and dispense with the pole.
My response was patient and I considered their request. I then told them the cost would be twice what it was with the pole to which they agreed. So a £140 job will now a £280 job, probably done in 3 hours. I'm not complaining.

I double the price for doing a job trad
Earlier this year I quoted one huge place and I gave a price way on the high side as she said she'd had a few window cleaners previously who'd done a bad job using wfp.
Then she says about not using that pole thing.
I explained about the extra time taken cleaning windows trad style, and giving a satisfaction guarantee with my wfp work and she still wanted the job done trad so I doubled the price and to my astonishment, she was quite happy to pay.
I was more than happy as well.
Five cleans on, she is still happy to pay.

WFP IS KILLING THE GAME
-
All things considered, I trad is better than wfp but a pole is better than a ladder to work with.
But then wfp is better than a trad pole.
-
Matt - now that's what I'm talking about!!!
Gold - average detached with conservatory. Took about an hour, so in reality I can earn more per hour on most of my regular work. This was priced as a one off although she said she'd like it 3 times a year, which I doubt.
-
I definitely think there's a niche for a professional service offering trad cleans but priced at the same hourly rate as you'd get WFP.
We have no plans to offer it ourselves
Saying that we charge £55 for a one off already WFP. And that's min price
-
Wow Richard, £55 min for a one off. I thought I priced fairly high in comparison to most. My minimum for a one off on a small 2 bed is £25.

was you working down near wombwell on Friday morning ?

I just don't think they're worth doing unless you charge high. Once you've got travel to and from it, possible call backs from WFP problems, and the hassle factor... It needs to be high to make me want to do it.

seriously guys if a customer wants them done trad ill relent on ground floor work if its reachable without a ladder but upper windows no way!
i just dont like climbing ladders anymore if possible no matter how good the money is.
and yes i have customers who were previously unhappy with their last wfp cleaner but are happy with me using the pole. ;) :) :)
-
This argument always makes me laugh.
I read some say they charge more for WFP as they've invested in some decent tools.
I read some say they charge more for trad as it takes longer.
In truth folks it's not the method but the operator that's to blame for bad work ...... with either method.
A well maintained wfp system, used properly, will do a great job, as will a mop and squeegee; but for my money the only times my bucket comes out of the van are for small shops, inside work and on balconies. Other than that it's wfp all the way.

Yeah, get your point here....
There's a guy set up in our town....
TRADITIONAL WINDOW CLEANING
All Done By Hand.
Good luck to him, he will pick up work
And I would gladly pass his details to the odd customer who doesn't like
"that pole thing"
Not every one likes Marmite.... ;D
