Post by: Rob_Mac on July 27, 2013, 12:44:53 pm
Massive update on paperwork.

Being asked for more detailed RAMS, COSHH sheets, diesel fuel product safety data sheet, accident reporting forms, incident from a MEWP forms and others.

All done- been on them since six this morning. managed to squeeze in a risk assessment for a job tomorrow, as well ;)

Ramp it up baby :o :o :o :o

I hate doing stuff like that but now it is becoming the norm, only Friday I turned up to do a job after submitting all paperwork to be left stood about like a numpty waiting for a permit to work to be issued,  after an hours wait due to engineer being on dinner break and no one else to issue it I got peed of and left the job, sometimes life is too short to put up with this sort of hassle

Rob, do you email out your RAMS with your quote for the job or do you do them later?

Cheers,

David.

They'll be requested after your quote is accepted.

David

When we get the purchase order (the agreement for works) I email the paperwork, signed by me as the author, I then have two copies on site.

Both are signed by all operators.

One then goes to the construction managers and we keep a copy in the van, for reference.

The daily review sheet comes into play if we can't follow the original method statement. I do the method statement & risk assessment of a store that is not a construction site.

By the time we get there there could be a million reasons for it to change. So the onsite supervisor looks at the job in hand & method statement, if something is in the way, he redoes it and gets it signed off and retains a copy.

Basically covers everyones backside.

Tired Chris??

RAMS, bleh,

I always try to put the least in the make it as safe as possible, otherwise you make life hard for yourself.

What are the incident and MEWP forms?

Although a MEWP will turn up with the LOLER certificate & service report (one or the other) that doesn't stop something being pulled off it overnight - so it is a daily check sheet of the basics.

We have to have an accident reporting procedure, a incident on a MEWP procedure - if you fall out, lose control, go unconscious. I have to have a method of dealing with any eventuality.

Thanks for the info Rob. Might have to do RAMS for cleaning two glass lifts in a shopping centre.

It's amazing what you forget when you're not using things regularly. I know remember LOLER.

I imagine once you have done one for the MEWP, you can just change the site details?

Yes, keep it in the van. Really should be done daily.

My problem is that other contractors will jump in the picker and just use them if we aren't on site and unfortunately if it hasn't been checked or there is no safe system of checking in place I can be liable.

It is putting the onus of responsibility back on the operator to check

Yes I have, and Thank you for removing the text, but just so you know you have a spelling mistake at the bottom of your PW page.
