Hi Guys
I am thinking of buying an Ozone generator.
Can anyone recommend one?
Cheers
Doug

I purchased one from EBay... Came from Poland and cost me £250 delivered.
So far it has been fine, build quality looks good... Only purchased it to work in cars and small rooms so wasn't looking for anything too powerful but it claims to have an output of 10g

How much do you charge for the service you provide with the ozone machine? ie how do you work out prices?
Dave
-
That must be a good machine Russ, I see it also purifies Muff.
How do you broach the subject of muff odour with your clients without
them getting upset and taking it personally?
-
I'm not sure that it could clean all variations of muff smells.
Shaun
-
Yes... I can confirm that it can deal with the smell if muff... After a marathon session in my love pad... The machine did a splendid job!! :-)
Seriously...
This is the first ozone machine I have used so I can't compare it to any other model, at half power it fills a small room with ozone very quickly...
-
Hi Russ
Thanks for your replies.
Why would you use it at half power?
Cheers

I bought one of those polish machines too, but i went for the 14000mg machine, it works fine for small rooms,it's very much the same a much more expensive machines, some say they dont produce as high an ozone output as they claim, but there is an easy way to check, just look at the voltage of the transformers inside, if they are 10,000v that will be 10,000mg of ozone, mine is 14000v so 14000mg of ozone, the worst thing about most ozone machines is the tiny little computer fan that is used by them. mine has plenty of output and after a few uses my rubber feet on the machine perished and fell off! at least it proves it works I suppose, as ozone destroys rubber after a time.lol ;D
We also use much bigger output machines(42000mg) that we have adapted to force ozone into carpets that have urine or other nasties in them!and ozone is the strongest cleaning agent known(acts over 3000times faster than chlorine), so use the proper breathing gear if you have to enter the room when running!
all the best
John.

John
How long do you leave the machines running to control urine odour in rooms? Is there a possibility of bleaching the carpet?
-
Hi there! We don't leave the machine in the house, we force the ozone into the carpet using a wand, usually 4 or 5 slow passes usually does it.We use it along with an enzyme. I suppose if you left the machine running for hours in a room with damp carpet it might bleach it, but in the 7 years i've been doing it I've never seen it happen. The more powerful the ozone machine is the less time you need to run it.
All the best

Hi John
Really interesting post mate.. thanks for that!
Today i used my machine in a fairly large conservatory, left it running for an hour and when i returned the room was full of ozone and dead flies on the window sill!
So far i like the machine and i would think you would struggle to get a better one for that price!
-
Think I was the first to buy one of these, and having used others can’t say I’m very impressed! The out put is way under what is quoted the build quality i.e.. case etc i think is good but think the components its made from are poor.. Really does depend on what you want to use it for, but I would/will spend extra and buy with confidence in the very near future.
Its up to you…….

For the money they are great little machines but there are better ones but for a lot more money! It's all down to output, there are machines costing 4 times as much with lesser output, it's a massive market out there too, but not many cleaners take advantage of it? It works in all properties with or without carpets. We find it particularly useful for killing mould in properties have had cavity wall insulation that has gone wrong! And there are loads of those! It will kill anything that requires air to survive. If you are not having the output you want are you using it correctly? are you sealing the room when you use it? for the ozone to work at its best it needs oxygen, so you need to open a window a little so the machine draws the air from outside. if you don't the ozone going back through the machine will produce nitrous oxide instead.

the other thing I forgot to say is ozone is heavier than air so you need to place the machine up as high as possible especially if you are using it for mould or smoke damage.we have tried step ladders but commerical speaker stands work best with a little adaption. ;D
John
-
Agree with everything you said John, we also always have air movers in place which I find helps but just not sure these machines are great! Yes you get your moneys worth and by no means imply they are a rip off just not personally impressed.
-
Hi Nick. I'm not sure about the £250 machine I never bought one of those, I went for the more expesive ones and that seems ok.

People should realise that although Ozone will kill mould, the underlying cause needs to be rectified and the dead mould needs to be removed. It is the chemical constituents of the spores either dead or alive which produce the mycotoxins which are so harmfull.
-
This 10g machine i purchased for £250 seems to work ok, the build quality looks fine and to be honest it was purchased to deal with odours in cars and small rooms.
John has written some very interesting posts here and i am still learning about how to use the machine and get the best results.
John Kelly supplied me with the Craftex pre enzyme which i use in the cleaning process... bloody great product

Thanks for some interesting replies.
John and Nick, which machine would you recommend?
Cheers

Doug I presume you want to use this for freshening hotels rooms, kitchens etc.
Some of these high output machines are overkill for what they are being used for and as has been said can seriously corrode rubber. At high concentrations this can lead to degradation of fridge and freezer seals, rubber electrical sheafing, door seals on cars etc.
An ideal one for our trade and manufactured in the UK with quality components is this:

We have used these on fire jobs as well with excellent results.

Great new site there John, must say do like the look of the Pro5+ ;D
-
there is company in Poland selling very good ozon gererators, proper construction build to last, 4 years warranty or life time warranty if you are service it regulary
website is in polish but if somebody knows some polish man then ask for help :) if interested
http://www.ozonowanie.com/
for example:
9 g/h - 500 pounds netto
6 g/h - 400
14 g/h - 750
32 g/h - 1500
-
Nick
Be cautious with the Pro5+ - it's a strong generator as such. I've had rubber perish with it by not keeping on top of the situation
-
Cheers Elliott Cleaning, my main use is fire jobs which perishable rubber is not to much of an issue on! Just peed off that I took a punt on the machine I have! My prior generator wash brilliant although have no idea who manufactured it or what its output was just know it was BIG and did the job required.
-
I agree, Restormates new web site is superb.

Just a word for those using ozone generstors - remember to clean the plates at regular intervals. If you don't their effectiveness decreases in a steep curve
