Post by: Mitchellmoxo on July 26, 2013, 04:52:36 pm
Hello,

What is the maximum tds level you can clean with until watermarks start to show?

Thanks

I'm happy letting it creep up to 010 before changing.

I have, though, cleaned my own windows with my tap water which is 035 with perfect results.

68ppm out of tap by me.

i clean up to 10ppm but have mistakenly cleaned at 35ppm

some people have had terrible results at 35ppm, could be down to what mineral is left in the water. basicaly i mean is 000ppm is pure 'when ever what ever' but 35ppm reduced from soft is different to 35ppm reduced from hard. maybe some minerals are more 'potent'

Mybe thats why results differ between different window cleaners in different parts of the country even if the tds is the same

Just a thought

I dropped my tds meter in my Ibc last week
So I'm not 100% sure but I think my water
Has been around 050 all week

I'm sure my resin is shot

Checked all ground floor windows and even
The ones in baking sun are PERFECT and spot free

Said this dozens of times.

Use two resin containers and

1. You'll save money on resin

2. You'll not save even a single penny by letting the TDS creep up so you'll always clean at 000 (or at worst 001 while you wait till the weekend to change the resin).

The water here is a bit weird! In the winter tds is about 50/60

Took a reading yesterday and its 140  :o :'(

We run di only and ours only last about 2/3 weeks!!

Last week I was cleaning and thought the water smells a bit funny  ??? So tested it and it was showing at 110  :-X only had 2 jobs left and as I was 45 mins away from base carried on cleaning  :-X

not one complaint or call back  ;D

But now test my water 3 times a day!

One of the days I compleetly forgot to check tds and wasnt till the end of the day I was halfway home it come into my head and man did I pannick as I knew it was very close to needing changed so I checked it and it was 025 and I nearly died on the spot thinking I have made all the windows I touched today worst than when I arrived to clean them!!!

So when back to last couple cleans pretending I forgot something and had a good look and the windows were perfectly clean, not a mark or spot in site and boy was I relieved!

Got home changed resin and back to 000 and was I happy cleaner the next day oh yes i was  ;D

had this question been asked a few years ago on here, most would have gone into a state of panic and changed asap at 002 ! ::)roll mostly I've changed the resin at 010, but beginning to think 12-15 from an ro is sufficient, is resin really needed ?

I stopped using resin this winter . October I think . My tap tds drops to about 65 .started using it again in may when it goes up to 120 .no complaints and will try again as soon as it drops down to 65 again . Di only . ;D

i spoke to 2 other window cleaners (they where employed though) and they said go up to 100 but I stay at 002 and used to change at 10.  but mine is at 15 and holding, I suspect the resin has gone.

my carbon filters are also moldy but I have new ones coming next week so will change the resin at the same time.

Next year I am changing to having a 40 40 and a hs5 in my van to make life a little easier.

000

Use double DI then you never need to go above 0 and it won't cost you any more in resin. Then when you are explaining to a customer how your wfp system works, you can tell them the truth.

the real truth is whatever works

on new estates local to me i use tap water which ranges
from 58ppm to 102ppm which it is at present and they dry
perfect everytime.

in other areas i use my ro water 9ppm no problems
