Just want to know how your machines are behaving in this heat, i don't use mine as a truck mount, try to keep it out of the sun and in as cool and well ventilated a spot as possible, but the thermostat on the vac motors has been cutting out at least once a day these last 2 weeks, all's fine again within 20 -30 mins but apart from costing me time (and therefore money) it kinda makes me look a bit of a tit!

I don't understand what you mean by the thermostat on the vac motors?
Are you talking about the Magma heater? or maybe the float switch thingy in the waste tank?
I've had mine out several times in direct sunlight in over 30 degrees heat (not on purpose but nowhere else to put it) with no problems.

Apparently there's a thermostat that governs the vac motors, if it gets too hot it overrides and shuts them down until they cool down
-
Have you checked the wiring in the socket that not cutting out?? ;D
Don't remember seeing a thermostat inside the machine. I'll have a look tomorrow. But as I say, I've had it out lots off times in the sun with no problems.

Matt it happened to me only once, when we had in Ireland 29 degres of celcius and the side van doors has closed
it never happened again as I keep the doors open

It is usually pressed up against the motor windings underneath the plastic cover ...
If it just happened on the 30 degree days of recent might just be the weather ... if it keeps happening look to what else might be causing it ,are both motors shutting down at exactly the same time ? are you running it from a hot van interior ... are you somehow blocking the motor ventilation intake (located on bottom of machine ?) is your machine fan working ...is the fan blocked with anything ... there might have been fan cooling location changes depending on what year your machine is from , but i don't know that.

also, make sure you don't block the exhaust outlet at the side if the machine!! Same goes with any machine.
I now remember the vacs shutting down on me after I had the machine pressed up against an external wall.

Cheers for the input guys, yes i have taken all measures to ensure it's well ventilated, not in an enclosed space etc, just wanted to see if any of my storm brothers were experiencing similar probs.

doesn't sound normal so ...
if there is a relay used , a dry cracked solder could be expanding at a certain temp breaking the circuit ... i had that problem on my cars main relay once , but just a wild guess in this case .

Not happened to my Storm, rain, snow, ice or heatwave :)

Its a prob with one of the vacs, just speak to matt a clean smart.

erm had this on my turbo and it was actually to extension lead i was using that just cut out before it over heated.
are you using an extension lead?

My storm is ok , most of the time it's on the van.
Would be interested in hose lengths mat and where you place the magma? Is the magma on rear of machine?how far from wand.

Doesn't sound quite right to me but if it is overheating you could set up a blower next to it?
Stu
Ps my truckmount is coughing abit with this hot weather
