Both are verey good poles! But gardiners would be just over the tip of the edge for me as they have such a good rep.

To ask that question on this forum is like going on an Arsenal fans forum and asking who is the best team Arsenal or Spurs, there is only ever going to be one result. :)

The slx by a long way, if you compare the specs you'll find that they are better on just about every thing.  The only extra thing I'd add though is consider the xtreme pole as that is better still.  I've found the clamps to be fine, they are very compact which means you get a longer extended length for a shorter closed length.  Like any piece of equipment it will need some cleaning and maintenance.

Simon.

The slx is cheaper but from what I have seen the clamps on the Phoenix are very nice and I would be tempted to try one. The Phoenix pole does get good reviews.

i,ve got the phoenix 26 ul and the gardiners extreme 25 , new clamps fitted , personally i find the phoenix a much more user friendly pole , even though the phoenix is much heavier i still prefer to use it over the extreme mainly because i don,t like the half way clamping on the exteme and the new clamps are,nt a patch on the facelift clamps ,so much easier to use in my opinion regards alan

The Phoenix has a fibre glass bottom section.
If I'm paying that much I'd want it all to be carbon fibre.

the fact that pheonix after a pretty short time is even compared to gardiners poles is imo a great achievement for pheonix for you wont find many a bad review on a gardiner pole

I bought a brand new slx 25 about 2 months ago .sold it within a month . The clamps are too awkward , and fiddley .got a Phoenix 26 .the clamps are so much easier to use .the poles feel the same whe fully extended . So the Phoenix for me .
